Sarah quickly stopped him. “Daniel, where are you going? Just put her in bed.”
“I am taking her to the hospital. What if she is starving or something is wrong?”
“I think Jennifer just fainted from low blood sugar. I used to have that a lot. Let the family doctor come check her out,” Sarah said, not wanting Jennifer to leave yet.
She had lost a chunk of her hair and ruined her designer dress, so she planned to settle that score with Jennifer later.
Daniel said incredulously. “Sarah, how can you be so heartless? Did you not see Jennifer faint?”
“I know she fainted, Daniel, but it is just low blood sugar. It is not a big deal. Plus, there is all this gossip about Jennifer cheating. If you take her to the hospital, what if the paparazzi catch her?”
Sarah glanced at Asher and continued to speak. “We have
already caused enough trouble for the Clark family. If we make another scandal, they might not want to talk to us anymore.”
Asher agreed.

He looked at Daniel and said. “Put Jennifer back in the single bed. I will have the family doctor come check her. If there is anything serious, we will send her to the hospital. It is safer that way.”
“Yes, Daniel. That is what I think too. I am not trying to hurt Jennifer. We are a family, after all. We need to think about the Hargreaves family’s bigger picture.”
In the end. Daniel did not take Jennifer out but laid her back in the old, dirty single bed.
The family doctor arrived soon after, examined Jennifer, and said, “Ms. Hargreaves just has low blood sugar. She will be fine. after some glucose.”
Daniel was angry. “She has not eaten for days. If this keeps up, her health will really start to suffer.”
“Daniel, I have been having someone bring food to Jennifer every day. I even brought her lunch today, but she refused to eat. I think she is still mad,” Sarah said.
“If she wants to starve herself, fine. Let her do it,” Asher said angrily before storming out of the basement.
Sarah looked back at the unconscious Jennifer and clicked her heels as she followed, confident that she would be the winner in the end.

He turned to the doctor. “How bad is her condition?”
“I did not finish my words earlier. If she keeps refusing food, her life could be at risk. She is already dehydrated. and hypoglycemic. When she wakes up, she will need to eat something.”
“I understand.”

Daniel looked around the shabby basement and felt more and more uncomfortable. He still wanted to take Jennifer out.
But James blocked the door. “Mr. Hargreaves, the decision to keep Ms. Hargreaves here was made by Mr. Asher Hargreaves. You should ask him before you act.”
“Who are you to give me orders? This is Jennifer’s home. Why should she be locked in the basement?”
“Ms. Hargreaves made a mistake. She should be punished,” James replied.
Daniel ignored James, but James had the servants block the door, not letting him take Jennifer out,
Frustrated, Daniel stormed out of the basement to find Asher and settle things.

about breaking the engagement with the Clark family, there has been a lot of trouble at the company. Since we cannot help him, we should not make things worse, right?”
“I do not mean that. Jennifer’s condition is not good, and the basement is filthy. I want to take her back to the bedroom to rest.”
“Daniel, I also want Jennifer to go back to the bedroom. But she has not agreed to Asher’s conditions. Seeing Sarah’s disheveled hair, Daniel finally agreed.
A victorious glint flashed in Sarah’s eyes.
She had only said that to keep Daniel calm. She had no intention of letting Jennifer out.
In fact, she hoped Jennifer would starve to death in the basement.
