She stormed into Sarah’s room, kicking the door open. “Why are you still here?”
Sarah, lounging in pajamas and wearing a face mask, clearly had no intention of heading to the basement.
She quickly tried to explain. “I was just about to go.”
“Right now, this instant!!”
Jennifer grabbed Sarah’s hair and dragged her toward the basement. “Do not think I do not know what you are up to. Trying to hide, huh?”
James appeared, trying to intervene. “Ms, Hargreaves, please let Ms. Campbell go.”
“The basement is exactly where Sarah belongs now.”
Ignoring the protests, Jennifer shoved Sarah inside the

basement. Jennifer noticed the space looked much cleaner than before. She thought, “Someone had clearly tidied up.”
“I said I would go, but it is not even bedtime yet!” Sarah fumed.
“It is bedtime when I say it is.”
Jennifer locked the door. James paled. “You cannot lock Ms. Campbell in.”
“Why not?”
Jennifer thought, “They had locked me in before. It was only
fair.”
Sarah banged on the door. “You have no right to lock me in! Let me out!”
Jennifer smirked, grabbed a trash can from the living room, and dumped its contents through the small window into the basement.
Sarah screamed. “What the hell is this?!”
“Garbage belongs with garbage.”
Dusting off her hands, Jennifer glanced at Sarah, who was seething with anger. “You should be thankful. This setup is far better than what I had.”
“Jennifer, open this door!” Sarah raged.

James tried to reason with Jennifer. “Ms. Hargreaves, this is not
right.”
Jennifer slapped James. “You are overstepping. This is the Hargreaves family–know your place.”
James held his cheek, stunned into silence.
Desperately, Sarah turned to James. “Call Asher!”
“Sarah, do you really think Asher will come back for you?”
Jennifer knew her family too well. Asher’s excuse about working overtime was just a cover–he did not want to deal with the basement situation either.
The Hargreaves family always found it easy to be generous at someone else’s expense, but when it came to themselves, they conveniently hesitated.
Jennifer looked at James. “Go ahead. Call him.”
James dialed, but no one answered.
Jennifer chuckled. “Let me know if Asher calls back.”
She turned and walked away with the key in hand.
Inside, Sarah stomped her feet in frustration.
Before leaving, Jennifer warned James. “If you unlock that door, her time in there will double. Do not think I do not know what

As Jennifer walked back, she ran into Daniel near the basement.
“Daniel, Jennifer threw garbage into the basement!” Sarah wailed.
Jennifer spoke calmly. “That is because the basement is now clean. It has nothing like the environment I lived in. Fair is fair.”
Daniel fell silent after hearing that.
He turned to Jennifer. “How are you feeling now?”
Daniel could not help noticing how much weight Jennifer had lost, likely from not eating properly.
“I survived the basement.” Jennifer glanced at Sarah. “From now on, I will personally send your meals.”
Jennifer intended to repay Sarah exactly how she had been treated.
Back in the living room, Daniel followed Jennifer. “Asher only did what he did because he was worried about the company. He has been saying we neglected you too much in the past.”
“There is no need to defend him.”
Jennifer knew it deep down.
Upstairs, Jennifer slipped into Asher’s room. After some
