Chapter 243 Get Down and Apologize
Jennifer let out a scoff, thinking to herself, “I’ve never seen such blatant favoritism.”
“Sarah makes a mistake, and all she has to do is apologize, and everything is brushed aside?”
Meanwhile, Sarah quickly adopted a submissive tone. “Jennifer, I really messed up by messing with your phone. I shouldn’t have answered that call or said those things. I promise I won’t do it again.”
For Sarah, apologies were as easy as pie; they were practically second nature.
To her, anything that could be resolved with a simple “I’m sorry” was just a minor inconvenience.
In the end, it was all water under the bridge for her.
Jennifer caught the glint of smugness in Sarah’s eyes and realized that, for her, an apology was nothing significant.
She didn’t want to see that self–satisfied look on Sarah’s face.
“Sure, I could let this slide, but her apology feels completely insincere,” Jennifer said, her voice steady.
Chapter 243 Get Down and Apologize “What do you want then?” Asher asked, a hint of frustration creeping into his tone.

“I want Sarah to publicly apologize to me, groveling. Only then. will I consider dropping this,” Jennifer declared.
She had no intention of letting Sarah off the hook so easily. A casual apology without any real consequence meant nothing to her.
As soon as she mentioned the idea, Sarah’s expression paled dramatically.
Apologizing was one thing, but groveling was a whole different ballgame.
Asher frowned, clearly taken aback. “Isn’t that a bit much? It feels pretty humiliating.”
Jennifer pressed, her tone growing sharper. “Sarah started this whole mess by messing with my phone and lying through her teeth. If it weren’t for my reconciliation with Timothy, she would have gotten away with it.
“Is that not excessive?”
Asher’s discomfort was palpable. “But Sarah has realized her mistake, and nothing serious came of it, right?”
Jennifer retorted, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “That’s because you think Sarah can just step in for me. You’re being
Chapter 243 Get Down and Apologize naive. Timothy came to find me, not Sarah.
“The Hargreaves family is thriving now because of me, you know?”

“Jennifer, that’s a bit over the line,” Asher said, trying to rein her in.
Jennifer refused to back down. “Really? When you talk about me, it’s fine, but when I speak up, I’m the one being unreasonable?”
“How is that not double standards?”
Asher’s face darkened with anger; he hadn’t expected Jennifer to be so bold in voicing her thoughts.
Sarah quickly turned to Asher, desperation in her eyes. “Asher, I’m willing to apologize to Jennifer. If it’ll make her feel better, I can do it.”
Hearing Sarah’s words, Asher felt a wave of relief wash over him.
There was no way he was going to bow to Jennifer, but if Sarah could diffuse the situation, that would work for him.
Sarah continued, “Honestly, just being part of the Hargreaves family is a privilege for me. I don’t want to ruin our relationship over this.”
She started to lower herself, but after a moment of hesitation,

she froze, glancing sideways at Asher, hoping he would intervene.
But Asher didn’t stop her, leaving Sarah in a bind.

She was caught between getting up and going through with it.
Daniel jumped in. “Sarah, you just said you’d do anything for the harmony of the Hargreaves family. So why not just get down. there and apologize?”
Daniel knew Sarah well enough to see through her facade; her earlier words were just for show.
This act of playing the victim was one she had mastered since. childhood.
Jennifer couldn’t resist throwing in her own jab. “Sarah, you’ve played this game so many times over the years. Always retreating to advance, but have you ever really faced any consequences?”
“I haven’t!” Sarah quickly defended herself.
“Just like now–if Asher steps in, you won’t get down, will you?” Jennifer pressed, her smirk widening.
Sarah turned to Asher with wide, pleading eyes. “Asher, I really didn’t mean it like that.”
Asher hesitated, noticing that Sarah had stalled.
He could see where she was coming from, and it made him
uneasy.

He mused, “Jennifer’s temper has been escalating lately, and if this situation doesn’t give her some satisfaction, who knows what kind of drama she might stir up?”
For the sake of maintaining peace, Asher finally spoke up, “Sarah, I know how much you’ve sacrificed for this family. I see it all, trust me.”
“Everything I do is just part of my duty,” Sarah replied quickly, her tone defensive.
“Right. Just remember, I’m keeping this in mind,” Asher said, his voice steady.
At that, Sarah’s expression froze.
She mused, “What does Asher mean by that?”
“Is he really expecting me to get down and apologize to Jennifer? I’ve been trying to avoid that this whole time. Why is this turning out differently than I imagined?”
All eyes turned to Sarah, and Asher showed no signs of intervening.
Now, she found herself in a tight spot, caught between a rock and a hard place.
