Jennifer let out a scoff, thinking to herself, “I’ve never seen such blatant favoritism.”
“Sarah makes a mistake, and all she has to do is apologize, and everything is brushed aside?”
Meanwhile, Sarah quickly adopted a submissive tone. “Jennifer, I really messed up by messing with your phone. I shouldn’t have answered that call or said those things. I promise I won’t do it again.”
For Sarah, apologies were as easy as pie; they were practically second nature.
To her, anything that could be resolved with a simple “I’m sorry” was just a minor inconvenience.
In the end, it was all water under the bridge for her.
Jennifer caught the glint of smugness in Sarah’s eyes and realized that, for her, an apology was nothing significant.
She didn’t want to see that self–satisfied look on Sarah’s face.
“Sure, I could let this slide, but her apology feels completely insincere,” Jennifer said, her voice steady.

“How is that not double standards?”
Asher’s face darkened with anger; he hadn’t expected Jennifer to be so bold in voicing her thoughts.
Sarah quickly turned to Asher, desperation in her eyes. “Asher, I’m willing to apologize to Jennifer. If it’ll make her feel better, I can do it.”
Hearing Sarah’s words, Asher felt a wave of relief wash over him.
There was no way he was going to bow to Jennifer, but if Sarah could diffuse the situation, that would work for him.
Sarah continued, “Honestly, just being part of the Hargreaves family is a privilege for me. I don’t want to ruin our relationship over this.”

“Just like now–if Asher steps in, you won’t get down, will you?” Jennifer pressed, her smirk widening.
Sarah turned to Asher with wide, pleading eyes. “Asher, I really didn’t mean it like that.”
Asher hesitated, noticing that Sarah had stalled.
He could see where she was coming from, and it made him

At that, Sarah’s expression froze.
She mused, “What does Asher mean by that?”
“Is he really expecting me to get down and apologize to Jennifer? I’ve been trying to avoid that this whole time. Why is this turning out differently than I imagined?”
