Chapter 248 Refusing Her Sympathy

Jennifer didn’t want to see Timothy suffering from his illness.
Eric thought for a while before saying, “Mrs. Clark, even though Mr. Clark’s leg was injured in an accident, he’s not a bad person. The doctors are currently working on treatments to repair the nerves in his legs. I believe he will recover one day.”
Eric put in a good word for Timothy, worried that Jennifer might look down on him.
Jennifer smiled and nodded. “Yes, I believe he will get better
soon.”
Eric looked at her in surprise, thinking, “Does she really believe that?”
He had initially praised Timothy to win Jennifer’s favor, not expecting her to be so optimistic about Timothy’s recovery.
He began to understand why Timothy was so taken with her.
Jennifer didn’t go to rest; instead, she waited for Timothy to finish his rehabilitation session before going in.
Timothy lay on the bed, sweat glistening on his face, looking exhausted.

Seeing him like this made Jennifer feel a pang of distress.

Timothy usually took great care of his health, but if it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t have had to sleep in the car all night.
She walked over and poured him a glass of water.
“Didn’t I tell you not to bother me?” Timothy snapped, his tone sharp.
“I came to see you,” Jennifer replied calmly.
When Timothy realized it was Jennifer, he was momentarily taken aback, his eyes betraying his embarrassment.
He forced a wry smile and said, “I just stayed in the same position for too long last night. But don’t worry; my condition hasn’t worsened.”
“I know. Thankfully, you’re okay, or I’d feel really guilty,” Jennifer said.
Timothy lowered his gaze. “You don’t need to feel guilty. This was my choice.”
He didn’t want Jennifer’s sympathy.
After a moment, Jennifer said, “Once the show wraps up, I’d like to visit the Clark family’s lab.”
Timothy looked up in surprise, recalling that Jennifer had mentioned having a way to heal his leg.

However, he had sent people to look into the Hargreaves family and learned that her older brother, Dylan, was the real expert. Jennifer didn’t seem directly involved in drug research.
“I heard that Dylan developed a treatment for nerve repair. Are you planning to go to my lab to replicate it?” he asked.
“You know about the drug research?” Jennifer was a bit surprised.
She then calculated the timeline and realized it made sense; there had indeed been progress in Dylan’s research.
But that was just the beginning; she was responsible for the subsequent improvements and optimizations.
In her past life, all the credit went to Dylan and his assistant, Sarah, while her contributions were erased.
Noticing Jennifer’s expression darken, Timothy asked, “What are you thinking? I know you want nothing to do with the Hargreaves family. You shouldn’t compromise because of me.”
“I’m not trying to compromise. I’m just thinking about those painful memories,” Jennifer replied.
She looked him in the eye and added, “I will heal your leg, and I will keep my word.”
“I know, but you’ll need Dylan’s help, right?” Timothy asked.
Chapter 248 Refusing Her Sympathy After a brief pause, Jennifer finally nodded. “Yes.”
Timothy was sharp and quickly grasped the crux of the issue.

After all, in her past life, she had carried on her research based on Dylan’s work, and he held the patent for the invention.
In this life, if she wanted to do the research, she must get Dylan’s
consent.
Jennifer truly didn’t want to deal with the Hargreaves family, but if it meant healing Timothy’s leg, she felt she could negotiate with Dylan.
Timothy took her hand and said, “If this causes you trouble, I’d rather my leg never heal.”
He knew how poorly the Hargreaves family had treated Jennifer.
As an outsider, he felt angry; it was deeply unfair to her.
Jennifer smiled softly. “Don’t be silly. Mistreatment is temporary, but what matters most is that your leg gets better.”
Timothy paused, then locked eyes with her.
He knew how much Jennifer hated the Hargreaves family, but her words indicated he was more important to her. Did that mean she also had feelings for him?
Their eyes met, and the air crackled with unspoken chemistry.

Just then, Ryan knocked on the door and walked in. “Mr. Clark, let me help you out.”
Jennifer stepped back, creating distance from Timothy, her expression a bit unnatural.
She followed Ryan back to the bedroom.
After Ryan helped Timothy to the bathroom, he exited.
Jennifer turned to Ryan and asked, “Can he bathe on his own?”
Ryan lowered his voice and whispered, “Mr. Clark prefers solitude when bathing. He sometimes gets hurt when he tries to manage it alone. Mrs. Clark, please keep an eye on him.”
“Okay, I get this,” Jennifer replied, recognizing Timothy’s strong sense of self–esteem when it came to bathing independently.
Once Ryan left the bedroom, Jennifer approached the bathroom door and knocked gently. “Do you need any help?”
“No,” Timothy still refused.
But Jennifer stepped inside and squatted in front of him. “Why won’t you let me help you?”
