Chapter 280 Insincere Apology
When Asher heard Jennifer’s words, it
was as if he had been slapped across the face.
He stared at her for a moment, then finally spoke up, “I admit, I shouldn’t have said that before.”
Back then, Asher had been angry about Jennifer wanting to break off her engagement, which had led him to lash
out.
He never intended to hurt her.
A smirk appeared on Jennifer’s face. “Wow, Asher, it’s a rarity to hear you
Chapter 280 Insincere Apology admit you were wrong.

Dylan jumped in, eager to shift the focus. “Since Asher has apologized, why don’t you let us out?”
“Why the rush? The time isn’t up yet,” Jennifer replied coolly.
Dylan’s expression twisted in frustration as he snapped, “Jennifer, don’t forget that Sarah’s mother saved your life. You owe her, and now you want to let her suffer?”
Jennifer leaned on her chin, unfazed.
“Well, I can always repeat what Asher just said in three days when Sarah is
out.”
“Jennifer, are you even human?” Dylan
shouted, incredulous.

Jennifer’s eyes turned icy. “Why is it okay for you to make mistakes and just apologize, but when I do, it’s a different story? What kind of logic is that?”
At that moment, she noticed the housekeeper bringing breakfast.

She took the plates and tossed them into
the cage.
Dylan’s voice rose in anger. “Are you feeding dogs now?”
“I’m just following Sarah’s example. She treated me the same way, so why shouldn’t I return the favor?” Jennifer shot back, casting a meaningful glance at Sarah.
“If you want to point fingers, maybe you

should ask Sarah why she acted like that.”
Sarah, feeling guilty, closed her eyes and pretended to faint, not wanting to face the current situation.
She hadn’t expected Jennifer to keep them locked up after a whole night.
Daniel, unable to watch any longer, spoke up, “Jennifer, after everything that’s happened today, they should understand what it feels like to be trapped.”
“Since you’re so sympathetic, why don’t you go in and take their place?” Timothy’s cold voice cut through the tension as hes looked at Daniel. “I’m serious.”
Daniel was momentarily speechless.

Timothy turned his gaze to the three in the cage. “See? Daniel doesn’t want to take your place.”
Daniel’s frustration bubbled over. “Mr. Clark, what are you implying?”
“I’m saying you’re all too quick to moralize with Jennifer, pushing her to be lenient, but when it comes to taking a little pain yourself, you shy away,” Timothy replied, his words sharp and precise.

Jennifer moved closer to Timothy, glancing back at Daniel. “What he said is
exactly what I was thinking.”
Realizing that appealing to emotions wouldn’t work with Timothy present, Daniel fell silent.

Timothy looked at Jennifer. “Let’s go. I’ll take you to school.”
As they walked out together, the sounds of Dylan’s curses and Sarah’s fake coughs echoed behind them, but Jennifer didn’t look back.
She hoped that after all this, the Hargreaves would finally leave her alone.
Once in the car, a heavy silence settled between them.
Jennifer stole a glance at Timothy, her mind drifting back to the clothes and jewelry she had found in the closet. She struggled to find the right words to say.
The drive to school was quiet.

When they arrived, Jennifer turned to Timothy. “I’ll head in now.”

Timothy glanced at her but said nothing. He watched as her figure disappeared into the school before turning his attention to Eric, who was in the passenger seat. “Have my properties cleaned out. Get rid of everything that needs to go.”
Timothy stared out the window, reflecting on how little he had ventured out since the accident.
He had distanced himself from his old life, trying to forget everything that had once been.
Eric hesitated before speaking, “Mrs. Clark asked about the closet.”

“She seemed genuinely concerned about you,” Eric replied, sticking to the facts.
Timothy gazed at the people outside, who were moving swiftly and confidently, letting out a self–deprecating laugh. “She’s just feeling sorry for me.‘
In his eyes, Jennifer was only there because of his grandmother, and once his legs healed, she would surely leave him behind.
