Chapter 289 She Bears It All Alone
Sarah’s eyes welled up with tears at the harsh rebuke, and she lowered her head
in distress.
Dylan immediately came to Sarah’s defense. “Daniel, why are you being so aggressive? What did Sarah say wrong?”
Daniel jabbed a finger at Sarah. “She’s always talked like this, making us misunderstand Jennifer. But now I know the truth, and it’s nothing like what
Sarah’s claiming!”
“Then tell us,” Angelina interjected coolly. “What really happened?”

“The truth is that Jennifer was locked in a basement – a damp, horrible place. They deliberately starved her, trying to force her to apologize to the Clark family and keep the marriage arrangement between our families intact.”
Daniel looked up at Angelina. “Everything happening today, we deserve it all.”
“That’s rich coming from you, Daniel. You were out here the whole damn time, not locked up anywhere. Now you’re lecturing. us?” Dylan couldn’t let this slide.
Sarah remained quiet. After all, as long as Dylan had the miracle drug, the Clark family would have to compromise eventually. Daniel said, “What I’m saying is the truth. If you don’t believe me, ask Asher what he’s thinking.”
Chapter 289 She Bears It All Alone. Asher’s expression betrayed his guilt.

These past couple of days had made him realize just how inappropriate it had been to lock Jennifer in that basement and
starve her.
Daniel was right – people never truly understood what it was like until they had walked a mile in their shoes.
Less than two days of confinement had been enough to break Asher. Jennifer had. endured three.
“What I did was wrong,” Asher admitted, looking at Angelina.
Dylan’s anger flared. He turned to Angelina. “Even if Asher went a bit too far

with his punishment, that doesn’t give Timothy the right to treat us like this!”
Angelina nodded. “That’s true enough. So, Mr. Dylan Hargreaves, how do you propose we resolve this?”
“Humph. First, both of them need to apologize to me.” Dylan was putting on airs now, confident that possessing the miracle drug gave him leverage to force the Clark family into submission.

Sarah sat beside Dylan, deliberately turning to Jennifer. “Jennifer, you being locked in the basement had nothing to do with Dylan, after all. You really should apologize to him!”
But inwardly, Sarah was anticipating the show. Would someone like Timothy ever
Chapter 289 She Bears It All Alone actually apologize?

Jennifer stepped forward, meeting
Dylan’s gaze. “About what happened…
you’re right. I was at fault for not stopping Timothy from having you locked in that cage.”
Dylan hadn’t expected Jennifer to apologize so casually. He’d thought she’d be more stubborn about it.
Jennifer, however, had already thought this through – even if Angelina discovered everything, offering an apology was just words. It wouldn’t cost her anything.
It was just what the Hargreaves had always done.
Now that the Hargreaves have had their
Chapter 289 She Bears It All Alone taste of being caged up and suffered enough, Jennifer supposed she had gotten her revenge.
Dylan turned to Jennifer after her apology. “Besides you, who else was involved?”
He was referring to Timothy.

Jennifer mimicked Sarah’s tear–stained face and trembling voice. “Actually, this was all my fault. Timothy had nothing to do with it. I forced him to do everything.”
Seeing Jennifer deliberately mimicking her, Sarah was instantly furious. “Jennifer, just stop lying. How could you possibly force Timothy to do anything for you?” Jennifer didn’t have that kind of influence.

Chapter 289 She Bears It All Alone Jennifer deliberately wiped away the tears she had forced out. “If I didn’t force him, Timothy has no grudge against the Hargreaves family. Why would he do such a thing?” she sobbed.
“He’s clearly doing this to vent your anger!”
Jennifer nodded. “Exactly, he’s doing it to stand up for me, so ultimately, I’m still
the one who made him do it.”
Sarah clenched her teeth in anger. Jennifer had actually set her up!
Mary had been waiting on the sidelines for a long time, and finally, her chance arrived. She quickly interjected, “Jennifer, why did you instigate Timothy to do such
á thing?”
Jennifer burst into even louder sobs.
Mary was taken aback. “Why are you crying?”
“I’m touched.”
Mary looked at Jennifer as if she were an idiot. What was so touching about what she just said?
Jennifer wiped her tears and said with a pitiful expression, “Of course, I’m touched that Timothy is willing to do these things for me.”
Mary continued to press, “Touched or not, look at the mess you’ve created!”
Chapter 289 She Bears It All Alone “But I don’t think this is a mess. On the contrary, it’s a good thing.”

Jennifer’s words stunned everyone. How could this be considered a good thing?
