Jennifer was taken aback when she saw the man.
She immediately recognized him as Millie’s butler, but she couldn’t understand why Millie would suddenly want to see her.
Just yesterday, Millie had visited King Villa, and their interaction had ended on a sour note.
Based on Millie’s personality, after their spat, she’s unlikely to give her the cold shoulder unless she ate humble pie and apologized to her.
And yet, Millie sent her butler to pick her up.
Sensing that something was off, Jennifer became cautious.
“Why does she want to see me?” she asked the man.
“Ms. Hargreaves, that’s not for me to know,” the butler replied coolly. “Mrs. Millie Clark simply instructed me to bring you.”
The butler’s attitude was cold. Jennifer didn’t feel strange about that. After all, everyone in the Clark family knew Jennifer was just a temporary partner for Timothy, and his real wife would likely be someone else in the future.
Jennifer hesitated, unwilling to get in the car. After all, her last encounter with Millie had been unpleasant.

The butler, seeing her hesitation, spoke with a thinly veiled threat, “Ms. Hargreaves, please get in the car. If you refuse, it may upset Mrs. Millie Clark.”
Jennifer realized that avoiding Millie wasn’t a viable solution. She had no choice but to get in the car.
Millie had gone so far as to send a vehicle for her. Refusing to go would be seen as disrespectful. If things went south during the meeting, at least she could defend herself.
But if she refused, she would be the one in the wrong.
As she got in, Jennifer took out her phone and sent Timothy a

Timothy replied almost instantly: [Let me know your location when you arrive. I’ll come right away.]
Seeing his quick response lifted Jennifer’s spirits.
No matter what, Timothy had always stood by her during their contract marriage.

content.

Soon, the car stopped in front of a research facility.
Jennifer stared at the familiar building in surprise.
She had expected to be taken to a restaurant or café, not to the Hargreaves family’s research institute.
In her past life, she had visited this place many times.
In the end, she had been driven out of here.
