Asher felt a pang of regret as Dylan spoke, “If only Jennifer were really pregnant,” he murmured.
That would guarantee the future of the Hargreaves family.
Dylan scoffed. “If Jennifer were carrying Timothy’s child, do you really think she’d let us have it easy?”
Asher frowned, not quite following. “Jennifer’s just being stubborn. She’s still the Hargreaves. She wouldn’t go that far.”
“You’re wrong, Asher,” Dylan cut in. “Jennifer’s not the same person she used to be. She probably wants us to go bankrupt.”
Dylan had already seen through Jennifer’s change and had made up his mind. Millie was the key to getting what he wanted.
Asher’s expression darkened. “So, what are you going to do about Sarah’s injury?”
If it was serious, people would talk.
Dylan thought for a moment. “I’ll certainly find a way to help her. But her injury’s bad enough that we can use the media to our advantage to pressure the Clark family.”

“It’s an advantage for us,” Dylan argued. “If Sarah goes public, the Clark family will be at our mercy. Jennifer destroyed Sarah’s neck. That’s enough to disgrace them.”
Since Sarah’s injury was irreversible, Dylan saw it as something to exploit to its fullest extent.
Asher paused, weighing the options. “But you’ll need to talk to Sarah yourself. If there’s anything I can do to help, just let me
know.”
“Asher, do you want me to be the bad guy again?”
Dylan sneered. “Sarah was the one who threw me under the bus, telling everyone I was behind it all. I’m not dealing with her
anymore.”
Dylan’s anger still lingered from the betrayal.
He couldn’t forget how Sarah had exposed him, no matter how much he had done for her.
Asher frowned, trying to reason. “Sarah was hurt, Dylan. She did what she thought was necessary. Do you really think if she stayed silent, the Clark family wouldn’t investigate the surveillance footage?”
Dylan’s mood darkened. “It doesn’t matter. She betrayed me, and you want me to talk to her? No thanks. You go ahead. I’m done with her.”

You nood to figure this out for your company,” Asher said, his tone firm.
He turned and walked out of the room, unwilling to take on the role of the villain.
Outside, Daniel overheard the conversation. His eyes narrowed, and he confronted them coolly. “So, is your plan still to use Sarah’s suffering to blackmail Jennifer?”
“Sometimes we have no choice.” Dylan replied, his tone dismissive.
Daniel’s voice grew sharper. “But you’re making Sarah, a young woman, expose her injury for pity? That’s going too far. Asher, 1 thought we were a family, not manipulators.”
“Enough, Daniel,” Asher snapped, trying to maintain control. “I’m doing this for the family. What do you suggest we do instead?”
Daniel’s expression darkened. “Jennifer’s also a victim in all this. Why can’t we try to reconcile with her?”
Asher paused. He stared at Daniel, and his face was filled with conflict. “If you think you can reconcile, then go talk to Jennifer. But I don’t think she’s interested in hearing what we have to say.”
Asher had tried, made phone calls, and yet Jennifer refused to even consider reconciliation.

Daniel let out a bitter laugh. “When did our family become this broken?”
Asher stood frozen, the question striking a nerve.
When had everything fallen apart?
It seemed to begin the moment Jennifer left Hargreaves Villa -when she refused to follow the family’s wishes and started to rebel.
Everything had changed since then.
Sighing deeply, Asher shook his head. “Why can’t Jennifer just listen like she used to? I wouldn’t have treated her so badly this
time.”
Daniel scoffed. “Like the way you used to manipulate her? Pushing her further and further into the corner until she couldn’t take it anymore? How much longer do you think she would have endured?”
Daniel’s words stung. He had been right, and Asher couldn’t deny it. Despite knowing all the years of favoritism toward Sarah, they had never truly acknowledged the years of torment Jennifer had suffered.
Daniel’s gaze was filled with disappointment as he turned to leave.
Asher watched him go, and his heart was heavy with regret.
