Chapter 354 By Her Side
Jennifer knew that no matter what she said now, no one would
believe her.
As soon as she spoke, the same classmate asked, “So, did you cause Sarah’s injury?”
“But there’s a reason for that,” Jennifer replied, trying to explain.
“So, did you cause her injury?”
Jennifer hesitated but answered, “Yes.”
The room went silent for a moment before it erupted in
murmurs.
“Unbelievable… Jennifer actually did something this cruel.”
“I’ve always known there was tension between Jennifer and Sarah, but I didn’t think she’d go this far.”
“Sarah may be adopted, but she’s talented and beautiful. Jennifer must have been jealous.”
“No way I want to be in the same group as someone like her. Who knows when she’ll decide to get back at us?”
Jennifer could feel the sting of their judgment. It was painful to

hear, but she couldn’t escape it.

The professor, sensing the tension, turned to Jennifer. “There must be a reason for this, right?”
He didn’t believe Jennifer could be that kind of person.
Jennifer’s eyes reddened, and she nodded. “Yes, there’s at
reason.”
“Then tell us what happened.”
“But no matter the reason, this is too much. Sarah’s injuries are severe, and Jennifer seems unaffected. That’s enough to make anyone suspicious,” one of the students spoke up.
Jennifer shot a cold glance at the person who spoke–it was one of Sarah’s loyal followers.
“I did it to protect myself,” Jennifer said, her voice icy.
“You can’t just justify it like that. Even if this went to court, it would still be your fault,” the student retorted.
Jennifer let out a half–smile. “You really think Sarah hasn’t sued me because she doesn’t want to?”
The boy sneered, “It’s because you’ve got the Clark family backing you up. Just because you have some money doesn’t mean you can get away with everything. Everyone can see the truth. We all know it’s your fault.”

Jennifer paused for a moment and then added, “At the time, Sarah tried to drug me with ether.”
“That’s impossible. Why would she do that?”

“I was forced into the lab two days ago, made to kneel and beg, and then put into a cleaner’s uniform to stay there. I didn’t want to be trapped, so I used a dangerous reagent to defend myself. But Sarah didn’t want me to leave, so she tried to stop me,” Jennifer explained.
The boy scoffed. “This story sounds ridiculous. Who would believe that?”
Jennifer already knew no one would believe her–especially since it involved Millie.
A few sentences couldn’t clear up the whole situation.
She responded, “There’s surveillance footage of everything.”
“Surveillance? Where is it? Show it to us,” the boy demanded.
Jennifer hesitated for a moment before replying, “The footage isn’t in my hands.”
It was with Timothy.
“If there’s surveillance, why don’t you just show it? Sounds like you’re just making up excuses to cover yourself,” the boy sneered.

Jennifer stared at him coldly. “I’ll release the footage. I’ll post it online. And as for you, spreading lies about me, you’ll be hearing from my lawyer.”
The boy fell silent, but still mocked, “Always threatening to sue, huh? Are you really that desperate to show off with your rich
man?”
Jennifer furrowed her brow, but didn’t respond.
The boy continued, “Everyone knows what kind of person you are now. We don’t want to work with someone like you. You should just do your own assignment.”
Jennifer shrugged, and her expression was resigned. “I didn’t do what you say, so I really don’t care.”
After all, this wasn’t the first time Sarah had slandered her.
In the end, a few people stayed in her group.
One girl spoke up, “Jennifer, we believe you’re innocent.”
Jennifer was taken aback. She hadn’t expected anyone to stay by her side.
The girl introduced herself, “I’m Lucy. We’ve all been bullied by Sarah, so we know exactly what kind of person she is.”
“Yeah, Jennifer. We know Sarah started it, and now she’s playing the victim after getting hurt. Typical of her.”

“Don’t worry, Jennifer. You’ve got the footage as proof. There’s
no need to be afraid.”

Jennifer felt a surge of warmth.
For the first time that day, she felt like she wasn’t completely
alone.
