Chapter 26
Constantly mumbling, “My child … I killed my own child,” Janet’s laughter turned eerie and manic in the dead of night.
Soon, she was transferred to the psychiatric ward, locked up in a special care room just like Parker had been, kept in the darkness da and night. It didn’t take long before the news arrived, Janet had committed suicide.
They say her eyes were left wide open at the time of her death, blood pooling around her and no one dared approach her body for a long time.
It was the hospital staff who eventually took the body and arranged for a quick cremation, scattering her ashes at some desolate spot,

The Smith couple were fortunate to have escaped the disease, but it seemed as though they aged decades overnight, their faces marked by despair. In a desperate attempt to seek forgiveness, they flew to Dallas and cried outside the Diesel Family’s gate, begging Michelle to forgive them.
Kenneth wasted no time and immediately sent people to expel them from the mansion area, citing public disorder and taking them to the police station.
“I thought you’d never expose Janet, considering the feelings you still have for your foster parents,” Kenneth said, handing Michelle a cup of hot milk.
Michelle took the milk calmly, sipping before

speaking softly, “I didn’t plan to at first.” She then looked Kenneth squarely in the eye, her expression sincere as she added, “But they hurt you and I’m angry.”
Michelle wasn’t exaggerating. The moment she saw Kenneth stained with blood, she felt an overwhelming rage rise within her. The love and kindness she once felt evaporated instantly. Her mind was consumed by a single thought, they deserved to die!
Kenneth’s heart tightened and he held Michelle closely, his voice hoarse with emotion, “Michelle, you’ve suffered too.”

Parker’s outbursts were relentless, he screamed and begged to see Michelle, but no one responded.
Sometimes his tantrums became so loud that the nurses would grow frustrated and shock him with electric paddles, injecting him with tranquilizers as punishment.
His mental state deteriorated rapidly and he forgot much of what had happened, though every day he continued muttering “Michelle,” becoming the most obsessed and tragic figure in the hospital.

He looked nothing like the proud,
accomplished man he had once been. He was unkempt, his eyes vacant, his body gaunt and he shied away from people. The once mighty young man had fallen to the ground, reduced to nothing in a single thought.
Mariska wept inconsolably, “What a curse! What a bad luck! The Browning Family is doomed!”
Parker, crying out in agony, desperately pleaded with her to take him to see Michelle.
Frustrated and furious, Mariska slapped him twice, cursing, “What kind of poison has that bitch fed you? How could you still think about her?”
“You’re here longing for her and what about

her? She’s about to marry someone else! Has she even come to see you once? Parker! Don’t be foolish, can’t you wake up?”
“If you come to your senses, I’ll take you out for treatment. As long as you don’t give up on yourself, no one will let you die!” Mariska cried, unable to understand how the
Browning Family had fallen so far, defeated by a woman’s influence.
Her beloved son had been driven insane by his obsession with that woman.
