Chapter 5
Only when we arrived at the restaurant did I find out Rachel’s real intention of bringing me there.
Looking at the handsome man who was told to sit by me, I smiled helplessly.
He looked at me with a gentle smile. “Do you still remember me, Katrina?”
Of course, I did. He was Erik Wesley, the school prince at the high school I attended before transferring to another.
We were in the same class for two years, but I hadn’t seen him since I transferred to a new school.

With a nod, I also smiled. “Erik, you don’t change at all.”
Erik raised his eyebrows in the face of my flattery. To be honest, it would require a lot of effort to wipe his extraordinary face from my mind.
After we graduated for so many years, he remained as charming and dashing as
ever.
I was the class monitor back then, and he was the rugby captain. We didn’t have a lot of things to do with each other at high school, so it was quite surprising for us to meet each other here.
As Rachel put food onto my plate, she winked at Erik to say something to me, “Katrina is single now. Erik, go for it!”

Elder people were always fond of

matching young women and men together for good, so I couldn’t directly turn her down and smiled at whatever she said.
As a woman who just finished a relationship, it was hard for me to move on in such a short period.
Then, I tilted my head and found Erik smiling politely. He said, “Rachel, I will seize the chance when time is ripe. A relationship can’t be forged by force, right?”
I was surprised that he didn’t simply reject Rachel.
So, I buried my head into the soup and couldn’t help feeling confused.

As we got along, Erik’s lifestyle was beyond my expectations because I thought a hot guy like him would play with girls‘ hearts.

Instead, he lived a regular, stable life and only posted pictures of his handmade food or his dog on Instagram.
When we were at work, he helped me deal with some business problems, and that’s all.
We gradually became acquainted with each other when Kevin called me from many different numbers.
Erik saw me blocking those numbers one by one and looked somehow pissed off.

In the second week after I started

working here, the company organized a team–building activity. Since I could finally relax my nerves now, I volunteered to sing at the karaoke. Almost all my colleagues applauded.
I was into singing a long time ago and occasionally uploaded cover versions of some songs online, which gained many
likes.
After hearing my song, Kevin, however, wasn’t impressed by my voice and criticized me for embarrassing myself by covering those less–than–stellar songs.
While I was deleting those songs in silence, he added the video clip that Lindsay sang off–key into the promotional video of his company.

Since I could finally get back to my old habit, I felt very relieved and joyful.
Then, it was Erik’s turn to sing, and he sang a sweet love song about the deep love for a long–time crush in a magnetic
voice.

When it came to the lyrics “I love you“, he turned his head to sing this line to me.
All my colleagues began to heckle, and I couldn’t help but blush.
After a few more songs, they came up with an idea to sing love songs in pairs. When it was my turn again, the microphones were handed to Erik and me.
I knew they were trying to match us.

After all, Erik didn’t hide his love for me
at all.

Smiling gently, he saved me from the embarrassment by saying jokingly, “Hey, don’t play with us like this. My heart is gonna explode. Just switch the song. It’s too early for me to be so close to her.”
Although unwillingly, they still did as he told, but I took this opportunity to pick up the microphone and said softly, “Actually, why not get closer to me?”
Hearing this, Erik was stunned. He looked at me in a daze, and I smiled at him.
I just couldn’t turn down a handsome guy.
As the prelude to the love song began, the

whole box fell silent.
I picked up the microphone and was about to sing the first lyrics when someone suddenly kicked the door open.
Looking up, I found Kevin, who hadn’t disturbed my life for a while, and the innocent Lindsay blinking her watery
eyes.
He looked at me with red eyes. “Katrina, come back with me right now!”
