I didn’t hear the rest.
I was just too heartbroken.
Since I was leaving in a month, I didn’t look for
a new place.
I just planned to stay in a hotel for a month.
I worked during the day and came back to my hotel at night. I didn’t have to worry about my kid and Mark. I was enjoying it.
As for Mark, he sent me a message the night
after I left.
He was still as sweet as ever. Saying that he
missed me.
But now it was different.
Looking at the messages, and thinking about
how he was probably with another woman when
he sent it.
I felt sick.
Besides work, I got a lawyer and they drafted a
divorce agreement for me.
In this marriage, Mark was at fault.
I was going to get everything I was entitled to.
Before the agreement was finalized, I didn’t
want to go back. I was busy at work, making
sure everything was done before I left for the
training.
But, I never expected that I would meet Mark’s
mistress before I left.
For work, I had a dinner with my colleague,
Jane. But as soon as we arrived at the
restaurant, she got a call.
“Sarah, I’m so sorry. My husband has something
going on. I need to go pick up my daughter.”

Jane had a lovely daughter that went to dance
classes on the weekend.
I heard her talk about it before. The dance
studio was not far from where we were eating.
So I said that I would go pick her up with her.
When we got there, Jane’s daughter was done
with the class.
The dance teacher was a one on one teacher.
I looked at the girl that was holding Jane’s
daughter’s hand. She was pretty and had great
posture.
That was my first impression.
If I hadn’t seen the bracelet on her hand.
“Ms. Meng, thank you for taking care of Hailey.”
Jane thanked the teacher. The teacher, who
<
was called Ms. Meng, smiled and tucked her
hair behind her ear.
The familiar bracelet was right in front of my
face.
If I remembered correctly, Mark said that there
were only two of those bracelets in the whole
city.
And both of those should be at home.
