Chapter 6
Jonathan paused for a moment.
Because he didn’t see me in the bedroom.
As usual, at this time, I would definitely be at home.
Even if I was angry with him, I wouldn’t go anywhere.
Because I had nowhere to go.
After he confirmed that I was not at home, he impatiently picked up his phone and called me.
A mechanical female voice came from the phone, “Hello, the number you dialed is currently switched off…”
Jonathon lost patience and hung up the phone without listening to the end.
His face also became very unpleasant.
He turned and walked toward the refrigerator, took out a bottle of ice–cold mineral water from inside, and seemed to deliberately go against me as he drank more than half of it in one gulp.
After drinking, I knew that his stomach had started hurting.
He covered his upper abdomen, the pain causing sweat to pour down his forehead.
He searched for medicine haphazardly, looking for a long time but not knowing what he should
.take.
After all, it was always I who prepared for him in the past.
He was almost unable to take care of himself.
He angrily threw the medicine box on the ground, then picked up his phone again. After hesitating for a moment, he made a phone call.
The call went through, with a tone of uncertainty in the voice, “Jonathon?”
“Was Sofia with you?” Jonathon asked, suppressing his stomachache.
There, he sneered a few times and said, “You look for Sofia, give me a call?”
The person who answered the phone was Rebekah Moss, my roommate from college.
“Aren’t you friends?” Jonathon said coldly.
“Friend?” Rebekah laughed even more sarcastically. “You knew Sofia and I were friends? But when Lasked for your help, how did you refuse me?!”
“Tacted in accordance with legal procedures, fair and just,” Jonathon said firmly and sternly.
Tjust laughed.
Fair and just?
I used to truly believe that he was upright and principled, so when Rebekah’s brother was detained for fighting back then, I hoped that Jonathon could help him out a bit inside. However, when Jonathon flatly refused, although I was very troubled, I did not blame him.
Even though as a result of this, I ended my friendship with Rebekah, my only friend.
What about now?
Not only could he help his crush find connections, but he could also go against his conscience and forge documents.
He wasn’t that noble; he just didn’t want me to tarnish his “purity“.
“Yeah, Mr. Quinn was a fair person, how could people like us ever hope to climb up to his level,” Rebekah said sarcastically. “That’s why I cut ties with Sofia a long time ago. Didn’t she tell you?”
Jonathon didn’t speak.
He didn’t know anything about me at all.
He didn’t know that I was Rebekah’s only friend.
He didn’t know that when I was in college and everyone looked down on me for chasing after him,
only Rebekah encouraged me and supported me.
Because of him, I ended my friendship with Rebekah.
I understood Rebekah.
If it were me, I wouldn’t be able to accept my best friend’s husband and wouldn’t help with such a simple task.
I knew Rebekah didn’t blame me either, but due to human nature, she couldn’t pretend to b
friends with me as if nothing had happened.
“Jonathon, I don’t know what happened between you and Sofia, but I just want to tell you that if you
truly betrayed Sofia, you will regret it for the rest of your life,” Rebekah said harshly. “You have no idea how much Sofia sacrificed for you.”
“I don’t need you to remind me about me and Sofia,” Jonathon said with a gloomy expression.
Rebekah sneered, “Sofia really wasn’t worth it.”
As soon as the words fell, Rebekah immediately hung up Jonathon’s phone.”
