Chapter 3
Darnell, as someone who has been through it all and as an elder who has witnessed the love–hate relationship between me and Bradyn, sighed and said, “Love, just like rigor mortis, has a delay. Perhaps years later you will realize your feelings for her, but by then it may be too late.”
After seeing off Darnell, Bradyn unlocked his phone and opened our chat box.
The last message was sent four days ago, which I wrote to him, “I’m going out to clear my mind, take care of yourself.”
At that time, we had just experienced an argument.
I found
potato chip crumbs and half a bag of potato chips on the passenger seat of his car. When I asked him about it, the man shrugged it off.
“I took Natalya to work that day, she was eating on the way, is there any problem?”
At that moment, I finally understood the saying “true sadness cannot be cried out.”
“Bradyn, you said you had germophobia, so you never allowed me to eat anything in your car, not even drink water when I was thirsty. But now, the rules you set are being indulged by her…”
The man’s reaction was really indifferent, as if I was talking about something unimportant.
“Why did you suddenly get angry again? She was hungry, doesn’t she have the right to eat? Please don’t be so aggressive, okay?”
I didn’t speak anymore, or silence was my answer.
Bradyn and I were together for three years, and he never allowed me to eat anything in the car. Even when I had a stomachache and wanted to open a bottle of water to take medicine, the man always had a commanding attitude, forbidding me from doing so.
“Hold on a little longer, we’ll get off soon.”
And the chasm that I could never cross, Natalya easily surpassed. I can even imagine that scene
She must have sat in the passenger seat with a smile on her lips, holding a bag of potato chips in one
hand, while joyfully sharing the recent events with him.
And my boyfriend, surely gazed at her with indulgence, occasionally rubbing her head.
Even if I found out, he would only explain impatiently, “Natalya is just like my sister, what’s wrong
with that?”
Originally, when a man truly cares about a woman, the state he shows is completely different.
That night, as I ran out of the house in sadness, I received a call from Natalya while wandering
downstairs.

Annabella, my car broke down on the outskirts of the new district. Can you come and pick me up?”
Bradyn said that Natalya was like a little sister to him, and he wished her a safe and peaceful life. So even though I didn’t like her anymore, I still drove her that night.
I was so worried about her, a girl all alone in the wilderness late at night. I was in such a hurry that I didn’t even have time to think it through.
How could Natalya, who relied so much on Bradyn, not be the first one to call him after the incident, but instead seek my help?
And then, I encountered an unexpected event.
Bradyn pointed upwards to the hundreds of pages of chat records, all filled with my ramblings.
“I made you a lunchbox today, remember to heat it up before eating.”
“Bradyn, tonight you left me to accompany Natalya for her birthday. So, as a punishment, you are not allowed to say a word to me when you come back… Well, you didn’t want to communicate with
me anyway.”
“Today was our three–year anniversary together. I bought a cake and flowers and waited for you at home early in the morning. But when you came back, you asked me in confusion what the occasion was for such a grand celebration. It made me so angry!”
These messages that I sent to Bradyn, he used to have no patience to read them, and now he still
doesn’t.
I saw him impatiently close his phone, step into the basement of the laboratory, and start teaching today’s new lesson.
“The body tissues were immobilized, and then dissection followed. According to different teaching requirements, Silent Mentor will be transformed into different teaching specimens.”
In the audience, the classmates sat and listened to the lecture. On the stage, Bradyn raised his hand and the sharp surgical knife fell, cutting open the flesh on my thigh.
But in just a moment, he put down the surgical knife and his pitch–black pupils suddenly dilated, clearly indicating that he had discovered something.
A few minutes later, the teaching was forced to interrupt.
Bradyn called Darnell and said, “I have new developments here. The woman is between the ages of twenty–two and twenty–four, with a height of one meter sixty–seven. Her body shows signs of regular exercise, being slender and well–proportioned. And…”
At this point, he suddenly took hold of my hand and examined it carefully. “There are obvious

calluses and knife marks on the palm. Judging by the size, it is very likely caused by a surgical knife. Ispeculate that she was a doctor.”
“Most importantly, there were extensive drag marks all over the body. Based on the above
circumstances, there is a very high degree of coincidence with the missing deceased person you
described.”
Within half an hour, the personnel from the criminal investigation team arrived and carried me away from medical school, transporting me to the criminal investigation bureau, with Bradyn following closely behind.
“How was the situation?”
Darnell stood by his side, his face looking grim. “Based on the bloodstains and DNA comparison found at the scene, it can be essentially confirmed that she was the deceased.”
However, how could she have appeared in medical school and become a Silent Mentor–to–be?
Bradyn shook his head and carefully pondered, “This needs to be thoroughly understood.”
The deceased who disappeared on the outskirts of the city, however, appeared in the medical school, which is an incredible thing.
Only the wandering soul in the sky, witnessing the entire process of my death, knows that all of this was just a game played by Natalya.
