Chapter 7
Out of guilt, Braydon was particularly attentive to me this week.
I woke up early and made breakfast for myself.
Unfortunately, his cooking skills were not good, and the food he made was hard to swallow.
I said thank you, took the lunch box he had prepared for me, and threw it into the trash bin as I left.
He started to frequently send me messages, reporting where he was, what he was doing, and who he was with, as if we were back in the passionate days of our relationship.
Actually, in the beginning, it was Braydon who took the initiative to send me the itinerary.
But later, I got used to it, while he got tired.
A week’s time flew by, and on Sunday, Braydon dressed appropriately. He made an effort to appear nonchalant, but the tightly tied tie still revealed how much he valued this meeting.
That was the first gift I gave him, which took me half a year’s salary.
After receiving it, he said that he would treasure it and wear it on our golden wedding anniversary.
Now, the tie appeared again, as he was going to meet another mother and son.
After he left, I silently took off the ring he had given me and placed it on the coffee table, conveniently covering the prearranged divorce settlement.
I packed my suitcase and boarded the plane to go abroad.
If Braydon had been more attentive, he would have noticed that I had been tidying up my clothes
recently.
If he had been a little more attentive, he would have noticed that my abdomen didn’t have the expected bulge of a four–month pregnancy.
He gave all his attention to others, detesting my constraints, but willingly rushing into the arms of
others.
Since that’s the case, let’s part ways amicably then.
The plane flew for a long time, so long that I completed our ending in my dream.
When I just landed, there were dozens of missed calls and hundreds of text messages.
Braydon was going crazy, repeatedly asking me where I had been and why I wasn’t at home.
There was also a message sent by the supervisor, “Have you checked the trending news?”
“Are you okay?”

“Annie, if there are any issues, I can apply to headquarters to have you transferred back first. You
can handle the matters at home before going to the branch office.”
I clicked on the trending news, and one of the entries “Perhaps this is what happiness looks like”
caught my eye.
It was an entry from an influencer who recorded her life with her son, husband, and her husband’s
mom.
It looked warm and ordinary, simple yet beautiful.
If the husband here is not Braydon and the mother–in–law is not Kenley.
The line “You’re the one who stayed with me till the end.” in the blogger’s signature stabbed my
eyes.
Round and round I went, only to realize that I was just a passerby in the love story of the main
characters in this novel.
Braydon’s phone rang again.
I picked up the phone, and his voice was filled with deep sadness.
“Annie, it wasn’t like you thought, believe me.”
“Lilian just wanted to document her life, but she didn’t expect to be reposted by a marketing
account.”
“We should not let the internet affect our lives, Annie. I didn’t want a divorce. Can we talk about it, please?”
“Where were you? I missed you so much, I wanted to come and find you.”
I sighed.
“Braydon, you couldn’t find me.”
“What does it mean?”
“The company established a new overseas branch, and I have already applied to work there.”
“The divorce settlement was placed on the coffee table, and we signed it without any issues. Let’s not make it too ugly.”
“I didn’t sign!”
Braydon suddenly became very capricious, repeatedly complaining.
“Annie, do you still like me? Were you just being stubborn?”

Twill keep my distance from Lilian in the future, and I will never do anything you don’t like again.”
“I really know I was wrong; will we still be as bad as before in the future?”
I shook my head.
“Not good.”
“Please, Annie…‘

Braydon’s voice choked up.
“Just consider it for the baby…”
As the wind blew, I felt a coolness on my face, and only then did I realize that I had been crying.
But my voice remained firm.
“There is no baby anymore, Braydon. I had an abortion on the day you gave the ring to Lilian.”
