Chapter 8
Sure enough, I ultimately won the bet. Upon reviewing that day, Nickolas indeed did not come.
But the photo of him kissing Selena became a hot topic.
Nickolas and I have worked our way up from the bottom together, even though he came from a
well–off family.
*But
But most of it was built together after we got married.
In the most difficult times, for the sake of product sales.
Nature did not forget to promote our love vigorously and to protect our products.
Now, the photo of him passionately kissing Selena at the entrance of the apartment was uploaded
online.
It immediately caused a huge uproar.
Many people criticized him for being heartless and unfaithful, saying that he landed on the shore and immediately killed the first person.
I didn’t pay attention at all and directly sent him the pre–arranged appointment for the divorce at City Hall.
“Let’s meet at City Hall tomorrow morning at nine o’clock,” I sent a message. He didn’t reply, but when I got home, I saw him in the living room.
The living room was not lit, and it looked very desolate.
He sat crouched in a corner of the coffee table, which was filled with various red and white wines.
Seeing me come in, he immediately looked at me with red eyes.
“Catalina, you knew this day would come a long time ago, didn’t you?”
I looked at him with a smile, but there was no warmth in my eyes. “Nickolas, it was you who initiated the divorce agreement.”
“It was your own decision to meet Selena, what does it have to do with me?”
The plea in Nickolas‘ eyes was almost overflowing, as he looked at me with complete humility.
“Catalina, I truly knew I was wrong.”
“We have been together for so long, you know, I have never done anything to hurt you.”
“You loved me, I know. I also know that you never followed through with Selena’s antics.”
I calmly watched him as if he was talking about someone else.
“Tknow you were just temporarily Infatuated with Selena; I know you always loved me…”
Every time I spoke, there was a glimmer of hope in Nickolas’ eyes, and by the end, he was almost looking at me with full hope.
“Catalina, you know, then we…”
Looking at his hopeful eyes, I mercilessly shattered his illusions.
“It was impossible.”
“Impossible, Nickolas. The divorce agreement you signed before clearly stated that you would leave with nothing. If you can come with me tomorrow to collect the divorce certificate on time.”
“We can consider redistributing assets and leaving the company to you.”
“But if you don’t go, I will take this divorce agreement and sue, and you won’t get a penny.”
ne out
Nickolas looked at me incredulously, as if he couldn’t believe that all of this had actually come
of my mouth.
“Catalina, did you really want to do this?”
I looked at the bottle of wine on the table, there was not a trace of warmth in my eyes.
“You know, the decisions I have made, I have never regretted.”
Nickolas immediately looked at me with a bitter smile, and his whole body leaned back, directly lying on the floor..
“Catalina, you didn’t know.”
“When I was a child, my parents were very strict and they didn’t allow me to make friends.”
“Only Selena, she was willing to be friends with me, so…”
Regretful tears kept flowing from the corners of his eyes as he continuously recounted the reasons why he had been so good to Selena.
But I had no interest in listening.
He went straight back to the room to freshen up.
When the next morning came, even though Nickolas didn’t want to, he did it for the Marquez family.
He had to do this.
