I left the hospital and went straight home.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw my
husband busy in the kitchen.
In my past life, to take care of Mom, I wanted
to bring her to live with us.
But she refused, saying she wouldn’t be
comfortable. So, I had to run back and forth
between our home and hers, completely
neglecting my own life.
Despite this, my husband never complained,

Despite inis, my nuspanu never complaineu,
silently taking care of everything at home.
When I found out I was pregnant, he
suggested hiring a caregiver for Mom.
I mentioned it to her, and she flew into a rage, accusing me of abandoning her after getting my hands on her inheritance.
I had no choice but to quit my job and dedicate myself to caring for her.
After her paralysis, Mom’s temper worsened. She’d yell and hit me over the smallest things, apologizing afterward.
Under her constant torment, my health
deteriorated, and I miscarried.
My husband rushed to the hospital when he
found out, saying nothing but comforting me
and telling me to rest.
In my past life, after my death, he handled
everything, arranging my funeral and even
reporting my death to the police. He tirelessly
took care of everything related to my passing.
Seeing his familiar face again brought a wave
of emotion over me.
I rushed over and hugged him.

“You’re back. Dinner’s almost ready. Go
freshen up, and we’ll eat.”
Looking at my favorite dishes, my eyes welled
up with guilt.
Just after dinner, Mom called.
“Ashley! If you don’t come soon, I’ll starve to
death here!”
I remained relaxed on the couch. “Mom, the hospital has a cafeteria. If you’re hungry, just get something there. You don’t need to wait
for me.”
“How can you say that? You always brought
me home–cooked meals when I was
hospitalized before. The cafeteria food is
awful; I can’t eat it!”
Because of Mom’s condition, she had to be
hospitalized regularly for checkups.
Every time, I stayed by her side, bringing her
home–cooked meals three times a day. Any
slight delay would be met with scolding.
I feigned ignorance. “Mom, everyone else eats
cafeteria food. It’s clean.”
“I have things to do today. I’ll visit you

tomorrow. Get some rest.”
I hung up and muted my phone before she
could call again.
That night, I finally had a good night’s sleep.
When I woke up, my husband wasn’t there. I wondered where he’d gone, then noticed a
note on the table.
“I went to the hospital to bring your mother some food. Get some rest today.”
I picked up my phone and saw it was filled
with missed calls from Mom.

I called her back, only to be met with her
demanding voice.
“Press here too.”
“So rough! Are you doing that on purpose?”
“I said press HERE! Can’t you understand?”
I couldn’t listen anymore. “Honey, come
home. I’ll go discharge Mom this afternoon.”
Mom started making snide remarks. “I didn’t
even ask him to do anything, and you’re already feeling sorry for your husband. You

Mom started making snide remarks. “I didn’t
even ask him to do anything, and you’re
already feeling sorry for your husband. You
never show this much concern for your own
mother. I raised you for nothing.”
I ignored her, simply telling my husband to
come home quickly and hanging up.
When I arrived at the hospital that afternoon,
Mom was casually on the phone.
“Don’t worry, son. You’re my only son, and I’ll leave everything to you. That other will wasn’t
notarized. I was just humoring your sister.
Don’t take what I said yesterday seriously.”
