Chapter 9
The young police officer was dumbfounded. They were experienced in investigating cases, so they understood what was going on. The only possibility was that the person they were searching for was already dead.
Watching them realize it, I sighed in relief. I hoped they could hurry and find my corpse because I was worried they would get a bigger scare if my corpse had already turned into a skeleton.
The police took their findings back to my father. “Mr. Xavier, we now suspect that something bad might have happened to Blake. We hope you’ll cooperate with our investigation.”
My father did not believe it. “No way. She could drive a car to hit Queenie. How could anything bad have happened to her?”
The police officer answered, “But Blake seemed to have vanished before the accident. There have been no transactions, no call records, nothing. Mr. Xavier, do you think that’s possible?”
The police officer’s expression was stern, yet my father dismissed his words. “How is it not possible? I canceled her credit card, so it’s normal that there’s no transaction history. She has plenty of friends. A bit of money from each of them is enough, to cover her expenses.”
The police officer replied, “We’ve looked into her friends too. None of them have seen her in a long time. No one transferred any money to her either. It’s as if Blake suddenly vanished like a ghost.”
My father burst out laughing. “I think you’re just incompetent. You can’t even track down a person. How are you guys police officers?”
“Mr. Xavier, watch your tone!” The young police officer had an outburst.
George Zachary, the captain, stopped him, but his phone suddenly rang just as he was about to speak. “What? Alright, send me the video. I’m currently at the Xavier residence,” George said.
After he hung up, George’s gaze suddenly turned sharp like a ferocious eagle in the jungle. “Mr. Xavier, we got a lead. Blake is currently in this villa.”
My father froze for a moment. “No way. Search the whole house if you want, but she’s not here.”
George remained silent as he watched a video on his phone. He turned up the volume, allowing everyone in the villa to hear it.
“Tie her up! Let her reflect on her actions here!”
My father jumped up from his seat as his eyes widened.
“This is your voice, isn’t it, Mr. Xavier?” George asked.
However, my father went pale as his mind went blank. After a few seconds, he stumbled as he made his way to the garage.
“No way. No way. It can’t be true.”
My father ran so quickly that even the police officers could not keep up with him. He reached the garage and slowed down as he approached the pink car. Abruptly, he opened the trunk.

My corpse was once again exposed. It had been over a month, and nearly two–thirds of my corpse had decayed. The head was the most decomposed. The skull was visible, and the face was unrecognizable.
My father finally began to understand that this corpse might really be me. He wanted to touch me, but his hand only touched decayed flesh. Still refusing to give up, he grabbed onto my clothing and dragged me out of the trunk. My body instantly broke apart in all directions.
Even in death, I could not rest in peace.
“No way. This must be fake. It’s fake. This isn’t my daughter. No! No!”
George saw the horrifying scene as soon as he arrived. There was an unrecognizable mass of human flesh on the ground, and my father held a handful of rotting flesh.
“Let go! Don’t move!” George shouted, immediately instructing the people behind him to contact forensics.
