One day, a random number called me.
“Hailey, why haven’t you said anything?”
“It’s been too long, so you just want me to
apologize.”
I heard Liam.
“Are you drunk?” I asked.
“Do you even care?”
I didn’t want to talk to him.
“Honey, who are you talking to?” Hank came
back and gave me fruit.
Liam was silent for a moment, then got angry.
“Hailey, you better tell me.”
I hung up.
Hank hugged me. He knew what was up, but
he didn’t say anything.
“Don’t you have anything to say?”
Hank fed me fruit.
“Nope, I respect you.”
Hank fed me fruit.
“Nope, I respect you.”
“This is in the past. You’ll tell me if you want
to.”
Respect.
That was what I needed, and what was
missing.
It wasn’t that he didn’t like me, but Liam
would never respect me, since it wasn’t in
him.
He disrespected me.
He always thought of me as his.
