My husband killed my premature
baby
Chapter 1
Eight months pregnant, I was pushed from the
second floor, bleeding profusely.
Chad went crazy, rushing me to the hospital
and bringing in top experts for surgery. Luckily,
they saved the baby.
When I opened my eyes again, neither the baby
nor Chad was by my side.
I struggled to get up, limping around, searching
everywhere.
But I overheard Chad talking to the doctor near
the morgue.
“Mr. Chad, that baby was still breathing. How could you smother him? He was your own flesh
く
“He’s better off dead and reborn sooner. He
shouldn’t have come into this world in the first
place.”
“Brittany just gave birth to a son for me
yesterday. I promised her our child would be the
only heir to the Chad family fortune. I can’t
allow anyone to compete with him for the
inheritance.”
It turned out my vision of a happy family was
just wishful thinking.
The marriage I was so proud of was nothing
more than a cold hell.
If that’s the case, then I’ll just leave.
The doctor hesitated.
“But you want to deceive Mrs. Ashley with

Brittany’s child. What if she finds out?”

“Newborns all look the same. She won’t notice.
I’ll bring him over later.”
“Dispose of the body cleanly. Also, get me that
drug from your hospital that permanently
sterilizes women. I’ll feed it to Ashley later.”
The doctor was stunned.
“Mr. Chad, you already killed Mrs. Ashley’s
child to bring Brittany’s child into the family.
Why do you want to sterilize her? That’s too
cruel, isn’t it?”
The cold air from the morgue spilled outside.
But Chad’s words were even more chilling.
“I promised Brittany I wouldn’t let our child
suffer even a little grievance in this lifetime. And
there won’t be any other siblings to compete
for my attention, even if she’s someone else’s
く
wife. I need to reassure her.”
The doctor looked reluctant.
“Mr. Chad, I must remind you that drug was
just developed and hasn’t been used in clinical
trials. The side effects are severe. Are you really
sure you can do this?”
Chad paused and sighed.
“I have no choice. Ashley will wake up soon. If I
do a hysterectomy now, it’ll inevitably raise her
suspicions.”
“I can only let her suffer for now. I’ll
compensate her well in the future. But I
absolutely can’t let Ashley get pregnant again.”
Just as he finished speaking, Chad’s phone
rang. He pressed the speakerphone. A man’s
excited voice echoed through the morgue.
<
“Mr. Chad, I received the five million. Don’t
worry. I’m leaving A City immediately. I won’t let
Mrs. Ashley know that you were the one who
had me push her down the stairs, ha ha.”
Footsteps came from inside.
I endured the pain in my leg and stumbled back
to my room.
Thinking of my child’s small body in the
morgue, I clutched my chest, tears falling onto
my bandaged leg.
So, being pushed down the stairs at the mall
wasn’t an accident.
It was my dear husband, clearing obstacles for
the woman he loved and their child.
My baby hadn’t been saved. He had been
smothered to death by his own father.

My baby hadn’t been saved. He had been
smothered to death by his own father.
In Chad’s eyes, my child and I were nothing
more than stumbling blocks.
“Ashley, you’re awake?”
434
Chad came in holding a baby, smiling as he sat
down by the bed.
“Take a look at our child. Look how much he
looks like us.”
“Honey, thank you for giving me such a cute
son. I’ll definitely be a good dad.”
I looked at the baby sleeping soundly in his
arms, and my heart ached.
Chad was wrong. No mother would mistake her
own child.
<
The baby’s eyebrows and eyes resembled
Chad’s, but the nose and chin were almost
copied from Brittany’s face.
This was their child.
And my baby was now just a cold corpse.
“Ashley, does your leg still hurt? Here, take a
few painkillers.”
The concern and gentleness in his eyes were as
they always were. But it was all just a facade to
numb me.
I looked at the pills in his hand, remembering
what I had just heard.
“Chad, the medicine is too bitter. Can I take it
later?”
You’ve already killed one of my children. At
least leave me the right to be a mother, okay?
<
Chad only hesitated for a second before smiling
and patting my head.
“You’re a mother now. Why are you still like a
child? You’ve worked so hard giving birth, and
your leg hurts so much. My heart aches, and I
can’t sleep at night. Ashley, please be kind to
your husband, okay? I also have to be a nanny
to our baby.”
“There’s honey in the water. It’s very sweet. Come on, let your husband feed you.”
No, that’s not my baby. That’s yours and
Brittany’s!
Chad brought the pills to my lips, not giving me
a chance to refuse again.
My blood ran cold. I closed my eyes and
swallowed the pills whole, without drinking the
honeyed water.
<

I don’t want this kind of false sweetness!

The effects of the drug came on quickly. My lower abdomen felt like it was burning with fire, and like someone was cutting me open with a knife. Blood flowed down my legs.
“Ashley, what’s wrong?”
Chad called for the doctor, and I fainted in pain..
In my hazy consciousness, I heard the doctor
say,
“Mr. Chad, Mrs. Ashley’s entire uterus has been corroded. She can’t have any more children.”
Chad let out a long sigh of relief.
When I opened my eyes again, his eyes were
red–rimmed, and he looked at me with a pained expression.
<

“Ashley, the doctor said you had a sudden
postpartum hemorrhage and can’t have any
more children.”
434
“Don’t be sad. Luckily, we already have Ryan.
He’ll definitely be filial to you when he grows
up.”
Ryan?
He had named Brittany’s child so quickly?
Chad refused the nurse’s help in cleaning my
body, and personally fetched hot water, despite
his cleanliness, to clean away the blood.
He told me his mom wanted to see her
grandson, so she had taken the baby home
already.
After finishing all this, it was already late at
night.
