Chapter 10 The Ending
“Then tell me, what does Keith want from me?”
Before Stephen could respond, Bonnie spoke up, “Your parents left you three properties, and now two of them are being demolished. The compensation is worth tens of millions of dollars!”
I laughed.
I thought, “Looks like it’s really all about that.”
I looked at Bonnie’s belly and turned to Stephen. “So, your goal in making peace with me is to get me to agree to marry you, and then after we get the marriage certificate, you’ll transfer all my money to someone else, right?”
Stephen refused to admit it.
But he didn’t know that the divorce lawyer he went to consult with was a friend of my father’s.
On the very day Stephen came for the consultation, the lawyer had already given me a heads–up.
At that time, I just thought no one could be shameless enough to do something like that!
The wedding was already such a mess, and now he wanted to

come to me over money.
So, I didn’t think much of it.
But now, everything had proven my suspicions right.
I walked right up to Stephen, ready to give him a piece of my mind.
“Keith has no idea about my family’s demolition plans, but you knew. You even went to consult a lawyer, a divorce lawyer.”
“I… I didn’t. I didn’t! Don’t listen to other people’s nonsense. I’m not that kind of person.”
When Stephen lied, he had this habit of fidgeting and twitching.
It was just like right now.
“Stephen, there is no chance for us in this life or the next. I used to treat you well, wholeheartedly, because I thought you loved me.”
At this point, I pointed at Bonnie’s slightly rounded belly and said to Stephen, “You’ve only been out of prison for eight months, and you’ve already successfully been expecting a child. You think you can marry me and take my money to raise your kid?”
That left them both speechless.
Maybe the old me, who had once trusted Stephen completely,
would have fallen for it.
I thought, “But once bitten, twice shy. How could I fall for it again without any guard up?”
Before I went back to my country, I had already figured out everything about these two.
From the moment Stephen got out, he had been waiting for Bonnie.
At first, he had no intention of getting back together with me.
But not long after Bonnie got out, she was pregnant with twins.
That was when Stephen turned his attention back to me.
He knew that I used to love him deeply.
He was even confident that I still loved him now, which was why he and Bonnie had arranged this whole act.
He thought that as long as he came back, I would give up everything, believe him, and accept him.
But the moment I called the police, everything was over. There was no going back.
I left the cemetery and took a car back home.
It was only then that I started looking at the ring.
at the jewelry shop when
Keith and I were together.
When Keith saw me looking at the ring, he said, “I admit that my confession earlier had some revenge in it. I just wanted him to know you’re not a girl no one wants. But the ring and the fact that I want to marry you are all real. Will you marry me?”
I didn’t say anything but quietly put the ring back on.
After that, Keith and I had a grand wedding.
He even made the kind of wedding I dreamed of as a child come true, fulfilling all my wishes.
On the wedding day, when my veil was lifted, I saw Stephen and Bonnie walking in.
Stephen looked much more haggard, while Bonnie wore a face full of scheming.
But the baby was gone.
Stephen watched the entire ceremony. When he saw me in Keith’s embrace, he finally turned and left.
I thought, “Stephen, I once loved you passionately when I was young, but now, I can decisively let you go.
This is me, Kathryn.”
The End.
