Chapter 6 Returning Home
“Don’t cry. If you want to eat later, you can just scan the code and pay. My food is cheap and good…”
I couldn’t help but laugh, and water sprayed all over his face.
He just smiled and wiped it off, and then casually mentioned he had something to do and left.
But after that day, Keith basically took care of all my meals.
I couldn’t accept any foreign food with my picky appetite.
And so, I spent a full year living abroad, mostly disconnected from everything back home.
Even when the company arranged for me to return home for training, Keith simply refused on my behalf, telling them to send someone else.
My lawyer informed me that Stephen’s parents had paid back my money and compensation.
According to the rules, he was only sentenced to one to three years.
As for his family, they had invested everything they had into hiring a top–notch lawyer to defend Stephen.

In the end, he was given a one–year sentence.
Bonnie’s situation was even more laughable.

She had solid evidence against her, and she should have received at least six months in prison, but she claimed she had depression and mental health issues and thus couldn’t be held legally responsible.
However, after being evaluated by a professional institution, it was confirmed she didn’t have any such issues.
All those so–called depressive behaviors were simply things she’d mimicked after watching news reports and videos about people with depression.
Even her physical symptoms were just her trying to imitate others.
She had no genuine mental health problems at all.
As a result, she didn’t get off lightly. Her charges were actually worsened.
I was remembering the anniversary of my parents‘ passing. I found out about all this when I was on a flight back home, and I met Stephen.
I had been resting in first class, wrapped in a blanket, sound asleep, not noticing who was sitting next to me.
As we neared landing, I got up to brush my teeth and

Before I could even say “Sorry,” my hand was grabbed!

He stood up, visibly excited.

He placed both hands on my shoulders, pulling me closer to him to inspect me closely.
I tried to push him away, but with one strong pull, he forcefully pulled me into his arms.
“Do you know I’ve been looking for you ever since I got out of prison? I visited all the foreign companies your company works with…”
As he spoke, tears started to fall, dripping onto my shoulder, hot and heavy.
Just as I was about to push him away with all my strength, he leaned in, attempting to kiss me.
Before I could react, Stephen was suddenly pulled away.
“Miss, someone’s harassing a passenger!”
I thought, “When did Keith get on the plane?!
Wasn’t he supposed to be on vacation, skiing in the mountains?
How did he end up on this flight?!”

Stephen, facing the harassment accusation, immediately grabbed
my arm, shouting, “This is my wife! How is kissing my wife. harassment?!”
“I’m not your wife. Sir, please show some respect.”
After I said that, I immediately asked the flight attendant to move me. to another seat.
Since we were about to land, the flight attendant didn’t hesitate and quickly arranged for me to sit next to Keith, reminding me to stay safe.
As soon as I sat down, Keith threw his blanket over me.
“It’s a bit chilly here. You should cover up more.”
I thanked him, wrapped myself in the blanket, and fell asleep shortly after.
When we landed, Keith gently woke me up, helped me gather my things, and, still holding my hand, guided me past Stephen.
