Chapter 7 Honor My Parents
“You two, stop right there!”
Stephen chased after us, even trying to get into our car.
But I clung to the door tightly, and with the crowd so thick, it didn’t take long before a group of people gathered to watch.
Since the last incident, the media had been all over Stephen, and he was scared. In the end, he reluctantly let go.
Before I came back to the country, I already knew I might run into Stephen.
But I thought that if we met, he’d just go crazy, asking me why I did what I did.
I never expected that he’d want to hug me, kiss me.
That really caught me off guard.
I kept thinking about what had just happened while Keith casually listened to music.
“Why did you come back?”
I couldn’t help but ask.
He looked at me, thought for a moment, and then said, “Of
course, to pay respects to the professor and his wife. After all, I couldn’t make it back when the accident happened.”
I nodded.
That was true.
My parents‘ accident happened so suddenly.
At the time, I called Keith.
But he was preparing for an important exam, and after trying, he told me he couldn’t come.
I had to arrange the funeral on my own.
Stephen had followed me the entire time, but he never got involved.
He told me that my parents had passed, not his, and that just being there with me before the wedding was already being a good man.
At that time, I was too overwhelmed by grief to notice anything wrong with his words.
I even felt grateful that he was with me day and night.
Back then, I felt guilty toward Stephen.
But now, when I thought about it, I found out that as my boyfriend of
so many years, shouldn’t that have been his duty?
Chapter 7 Heer My Parents
My parents passed away overnight.
He thought just being there for me was enough and still acted like I owed him something.
It was laughable.
The worst part was realizing that in my darkest hour, he didn’t show any care or sympathy.
Instead, he had the nerve to take unflattering photos of me and send them to his crush.
How could someone like that dare to come after me?
What shocked me even more was…
On the day Keith and I went to honor my parents, we ran into Stephen and Bonnie at the cemetery.
Bonnie was no longer dressed like the innocent girl she once was. Now, she looked like a rich lady, and she’d gained some weight.
She was supposed to be in prison, yet she looked like she had been living the high life.
And why were they standing in front of my parents‘ grave waiting for
me?
Ever since my parents passed, Stephen had always kept his

distance whenever I visited them.
Now, he was holding a bouquet of roses in front of their grave. It was both ironic and ridiculous.
Keith looked at the chamomile in his hand with confusion.
“I don’t remember the professor and his wife ever liking roses. Is he bringing those for you?”
I froze in my tracks.
I really didn’t need that… I was already feeling disgusted just walking
over.
When I finally reached them, before I could say anything, Bonnie stepped forward first.
“It’s been a year, Kathryn, and you’re looking even more beautiful.”
Her fake compliments left me speechless. After exchanging a few polite words, I tried to bypass them to pay respects to my parents.
But then Stephen suddenly knelt in front of me.
“Kathryn, it was my fault before. I was blinded. But I had good intentions. I was worried about Bonnie’s illness and afraid it would end badly. You know I still love you.”
He glanced at Bonnie as he spoke.

Bonnie immediately chimed in, “It was all my fault back then. I didn’t know how to keep my distance. I didn’t know my boundaries. Now I’m apologizing. Do you want me to kneel,
too?”
I heard her words but didn’t argue, didn’t say anything. I just stood there quietly, staring at them.
