A few days ago, she ordered a cheap shirt for
$9.99 and black pants for $15.99, plus some black sneakers for $19.99.
I asked her, “Why are you buying such cheap clothes all of a sudden?”
She smiled and said, “I’m volunteering in a couple of days, I don’t want to dress too
flashy.”
She never wore anything that cost less than
$500.
Our family is pretty well–off. Dad believes in
spoiling his daughters, so he gives us $5,000
each every month to buy clothes.
I don’t buy a lot, so I saved the money.

But Brittany always spent more than she got.
Last year, she secretly took $60,000 from my account to buy clothes and shoes.

That’s when I found out that Dad was actually
giving Brittany $10,000 a month, while I only got
$5,000.
That’s when I realized that Dad treated me and
Brittany differently.
Mom looked lost, unable to defend herself. It was all so simple. A blood test would prove my
identity.
I suggested it.
But Dad was convinced I was Uncle Frank’s.
“You look exactly like him! We don’t need a
test, your face is all the proof we need!”
Brittany kept crying. “Aunt Carol couldn’t have

kids, so Uncle Frank wanted a child of his own.
That’s why he did that with Mom.”
Uncle Frank never had kids, so everyone
believed the story about Mom and him.
Surrounded by all the judgement, I asked Dad,
“Are you sure you want to throw away this
family?”
