I had wanted to settle things, but Ethan
solved them quickly.
She slammed the phone down.
Ethan, worried, hired more guards.

He was afraid that Heather would do
something crazy.
I didn’t care. What could she do?
Ethan and I went to the hospital to see my
father.
It was a busy room, with four people in a
single room, and my dad was tossing and
turning, unable to sleep.
I called his name, and he turned to me.
“Why are you here? Where’s Heather? She
hasn’t been here in days! I don’t want to see
you! I want Heather!”
“Why would she come?”

“Did you threaten her?”
“How could I do that?”
Before I could reply, a bald guy with tattoos
burst through the door.
“Hey, Fred, get over here!”
My dad trembled, “That’s me. What is it?”
“You owe us $4 million. We are here to

“Four million! I never owed that! You can’t
just rob me!”
“Look at this.” The man threw a piece of
paper on the ground.

Dad picked it up, his hands shaking, seeing
his signature on it.
“Who gave this to you?”
“Heather! Your daughter! It is real!”
My dad gave up, and he called Heather.
The guy turned to Ethan and I, “Who are these guys?”
I was about to reply when Ethan jumped in
“No clue. Don’t know him.”
Dad tried again, but no one answered the
phone.
The guy pointed a finger, “Don’t try to skip

“Nurse! This patient is down!”
Dad passed out.
The guy grabbed his IOU and left.
“This sucks! I’m never getting the money!”
We went to the waiting room.
A pregnant woman walked in.
I recognized her. It was Tiffany. Chad was
with her, walking like a zombie.
He saw me, he looked like he wanted to
disappear.

Tiffany started to shout at me. Ethan put his
body between us.
“Riley, you did this to me! Are you happy
now?”
“You did it to yourself. Do you want to be
arrested again?”
Chad grabbed her hand to leave.
Tiffany pulled away. “And you! Why don’t you
leave me! I am so sick of you!”
Ethan and I were ready to leave.
“Hold up! Do you want to know where
Heather is?”

“Not really.”
She started waving her test results. “She is
trying to mess with you! And I know how to
find her! I have proof!”
Ethan said quietly, “You better tell us.”
“I have to go, I’ll tell you guys later.”
They left, not giving us a chance to reply.
