My whole family doted on my daughter, causing her tragic death. After being reborn, I went crazy killing her
Chapter 1
I found my way back to the Miller family when
I was twenty.
After all the crap I’d been through, I figured I
was due for some love.
But from the second I walked in the door,
Mom, Dad, and my brother, Chad, were all
about my sister, Ashley
one who’d been wronged.
like she was the
Ashley wanted to be a jewelry designer, so
they told me to hand over my design
portfolio.
Ashley wanted my pearl necklace, and Chad
just grabbed it and slapped it around her
neck.
<
Once they found out I’d pulled Jason Sterling,
Jr. out of a burning building, the whole family
decided I’d play along at Ashley’s birthday
bash and say she was the hero.
For the sake of family, I swallowed my pride.
Turns out, that fire at the Sterling’s place was
connected to something really dark.
And somehow, I ended up being framed for
murder, and some psycho Sterling fan
stabbed me right there on the spot.
Bleeding out on the floor, I watched Jason
give Ashley a freaking engagement ring.
My parents and Chad just looked down at me,
saying I deserved what I got.
I died full of bitterness.
Then, BAM, I was back at Ashley’s birthday
party, the day Jason popped the question.

The ballroom was buzzing, all eyes on Ashley,
like she was the only star in the sky.
Chad gave her a fancy Kate Spade bag first.
Then Mom went on about how sweet and
perfect she was, handing her a jade pendant.
I moved quick, snatched that pendant right
out of her hand.
“That’s a gift from my foster mom, for my
eighteenth birthday! What’s Ashley doing with
it?”
Every head in the room turned my way. Chad
glared at me, his face red. “Lia, it’s Ashley’s
birthday! What the hell are you doing?”
“It’s just a stupid pendant! Shouldn’t you be
giving Ashley a birthday present?”
Mom cut in, sounding real serious. “Chad’s
right. You’re Ashley’s sister. Can’t you be nice
for once on her birthday?”
“It was a gift from your foster mom? Does
that make her more important than your real
mom?”
I couldn’t help myself, “Today is her birthday
but what about mine?”
“Oh that’s right!”
Mom faked surprise, then gave herself a little
tap on the forehead. “Lia, honey, don’t worry.
After Ashley’s party, I’ll make sure you get
your birthday present, I promise.”
It was like a punch to the gut.
Ashley and I were twins, but since I’d come
home five years ago, it had been Ashley’s
party every year.
The Millers are in the jewelry biz, a big deal,
with a big fortune. A gift wouldn’t break the
bank, but I, the long–lost daughter, never
mattered.
“Lia, Mom’s not feeling well. Don’t argue with
her!”
Ashley took a step forward, putting on a sad
く
little face. “It’s my fault! I don’t need the
pendant!”
Ashley then reached over to hold Mom’s
shoulder.
Mom gave her a satisfied nod. “Ashley is so
thoughtful!”
I almost laughed.
Ashley was playing her usual damsel act. Am I
the only one who seems the villain?
“Lia, you eat and drink from this family! You
have to give Ashley that pendant!”
Chad grabbed my arm.
I yanked away, feeling a sharp sting.
“Chad, it’s from her foster mom! It probably
means something to her! I really don’t need
it!”
Ashley said it, but her eyes were glued to the
pendant in my hand.
I wanted to throw up.
In my previous life, she was this same snake.
If I liked something, she’d find a way to take
- it.
Ashley had told me many times she had
always wanted the jade pendant.
While I had previously always played nice for
the sake of my family, I still refused to give
her the pendant because it was the only thing
I had left from my foster mother.
Mom had come to me the night before,
asking to borrow the pendant, saying she
wanted to get it duplicated.
I gave it to mom with no hesitation, I never
thought that getting it duplicated was just a
cover, her aim was to give it to Ashley as a
birthday present.
“Give me the pendant!”
Chad reached for it.
I shoved it in my pocket and snapped, “Chad!
It’s mine! Why should I give it to you?”
Chad’s face went dark. “Because Ashley’s
<
your sister! You’re supposed to let her have
everything!”
As he said it, Chad reached for my pocket.
Mom pulled him back. “Okay, Chad! Jason
and your Dad are here! This can wait!”
I looked up. Jason Sterling, Jr. and my dad
were walking in.
My heart did a flip. I clenched my fists.
Last time around, I’d sworn up and down that
Ashley saved Jason, and it got me killed.
This time, no freaking way.
