Story–Chapter 1
“Professor, I would like to apply to join the Sparkle project.”
On the other end of the phone, Rylan Pratt’s tone was filled with astonishment.
“Kendra, didn’t you retuse last time for your boyfriend? Why have you suddenly changed your mind? This is a classified project, once you enter, you will be isolated from the outside world for five years. You really need to think carefully about it.”
Before making the phone call, Kendra had already thought it through, so her attitude was very determined.
Seeing her determination, Mr. Pratt said, “Since you have thought it through, find a time to come to the school and sign the agreement. The project will start in two weeks, and someone will come to pick you up then. I can see that you have a good relationship with your boyfriend, so make sure to talk to
him about this.”
as kind–hearted
Kendra knew that Mr. Pratt was
“No need to say anymore, I had already decided to break up with him.”
As soon as the words fell, the unlocked wooden door made a slight sound
Erick Lynch, wearing a black T–shirt, pushed open the door and entered, with a tall and slender figure, and distinct facial features.
“Who were you talking to?”
Kendra glanced at him and quickly found an excuse to hang up the phone, “I was talking to my roommate about post–graduation plans.”
Erick didn’t ask further, he walked over with a smile on his lips and pulled out a bracelet from his pocket, showing it in front of her eyes. “I’ve been working part–time for a month, and I finally bought this gift for you. Do you like it?”
Kendra glanced briefly and said in a flat tone. “It looks good.”
Erick was surprised by this unexpected cold response.
After all, in the past, no matter what he gave h
her, she would immediately accept it and then throw herself into his arms, both touched and distressed.
He carefully observed the expression on her face, “Don’t you like in?””
Kendra shook her head and said, “I like it, but it’s too expensive. Let’s save the money then. Didn’t we agree to buy a house and get married right after graduation?”
She looked like she worried about him spending money recklessly.
more part–time jobs. My girlfriend
Erick couldn’t help but chuckle and reached up to ruffle her hair. “It’s okay, worst case scenario, I’ll just take on a few mo Kendra should have what others‘ girlfriends have.”
Kendra tugged at her lips, glanced at the clock on the wall, and prepared to freshen up.
After closing the door, she walked up to the mirror and saw Erick’s phone vibrate on the sink
She picked it up and as soon as she opened it, she saw a message from a familiar profile picture
“Erick, thank you for giving me the latest Bvlgari necklace today. I really liked it.”
The lighting in the picture was dim, but it couldn’t hide the dazzling brilliance of the real diamonds.
Kendra silently smiled as she remembered the cheap bracelet, which was clearly a 9.9 dollars free shipping item, left on the table.
The mist was steaming, and the water vapor was permeating. She looked at the slowly blurred face in the mirror, with some memories slowly flooding into her mind
Erick transferred to the Finance Department at Springbell University two years ago and made a remarkable impression due to his outstanding appearance. But he, for some unknown reason, started pursuing after Kendra, this ordinary girl who was not outstanding in anything except for her excellent grades. They quickly confirmed their relationship and started dating like any ordinary couple, holding hands, kissing, going on dates, and taking walks together. A year ago, they moved out of school together and rented a cheap apartment for 700 dollars, starting their cohabitation life.
They agreed to buy a house and get married after graduation
In order to achieve her dream as soon as possible, Kendra worked tirelessly
lessly part time during her free time, taking on three jobs a day.
Three days ago, when she was running errands delivering takeout at the bar, she unexpectedly bumped into Erick, who was supposed to be working part–time.
He got off a sports car and entered the bar with a group of friends, shouting and laughing
She passed by wearing a helmet and heard the casual conversation among the brothers.
“Erick, how much longer do you have to pretend with your cheap girlfriend? If she finds out your true identity, she might be shocked to the core.”
“Well, there’s no way around it. Who made Erick have a crush on Beatrice Hubbard? If it weren’t for Beatrice insisting on finding such a cheap boyfriend, how could Erick have found Kendra, this cheap girlfrienal, just to spite her?”
squeezed in that shabby rental house every day, dating with such a cheap girlfriend, even I would feel depressed., Erick, the distinguished scion in Basinbourne, endured it for a whole three years just to be able to see Beatrice every day. Truly deserving of the title of a devoted lover.”
Faced with these almost mocking taunts, Erick simply sat in his high seat, lazily drinking his wine, without saying a word.
Until this moment, Kendra only realized that her seemingly ordinary boyfriend was actually the son of Basinbourne.
And that Beatrice in their mouths is Kendra’s best friend. And she was actually the daughter of a wealthy family in Basinbourne.
Beatrice also transferred two years ago, she was unfamiliar with the new environment and had a proud temperament. Only Kendra was willing to take care of her, and they gradually became friends.
Kendra knew from the beginning that Beatrice transferred to this school for her boyfriend, Darian Hogan.
But she didn’t expect that Erick had transferred to Springbell University because of Beatrice,
In fact, Erick’s true love was his childhood friend Beatrice.
The reason he chose Kendra as girlfriend was simply because he wanted to spite Beatrice.
Just because she was cheap enough.
She didn’t know how she eventually left the bar, only remembering that she walked in the rain all night, drenched and feeling faint, almost losing half
her life.
After she came back, she had a fever. In her dreams, sometimes it was a sweet love, and sometimes it was a nightmare of being deceived, alternating repeatedly.
She stayed alone in the cheap rental house for three days, and Erick did not come back.
She had slowly recovered from the illness. But she felt her heart completely die as she looked at the photo posted by Beatrice. She could faintly see Erick’s hand feeding her porridge.
She was tired and didn’t want to act with this childhood sweetheart anymore.
They never belonged to the same world, so she didn’t need to force herself to fit in.
Since they continued performing, this time she took the initiative to leave first.
