POV JAKE
I couldn’t explain the pull that I felt when Carissa called for Zeus, It was as if all my being needed to be with her right there and then. Zeus Pushed forward and took all control from me, leaping through the forest towards the pull and without warning he called to Carrissa, “I am Here!“.
I knew then that only a mate could call a mate out of boundaries, I hated that the moon goddess had put us together this wasn’t her plan, her destiny was not to be with me. I could feel her internal struggle with her wolf as Zeus had come into view. How could she be so separated from her wolf I couldn’t help but wonder, though I fear that this won’t end well.
Seeing Hawkins teeth sink into her throat made my blood boil, I could feel the energy drain from Carissa as she saw me. The rage that filled me was uncontrollable and hit me hard, all I saw was hate for Hawkins Zeus pushed forward grabbing Hawkins and tossing him aside as if he was nothing but a rag doll. His wolf was mighty but mine was much stronger, this time he wasn’t going to catch me off guard.
I knew after our fight what this shifty Ahole was capable of, each move Zeus made was swift and smooth. I couldn’t help being proud of him and containing the thirst for death he craved as he did when he first saw Hawkins.
I saw the Jenkins pack scatter and I heard the bang and that’s when the world seemed to stand still. First I heard Jess cry out to Liberty and then it came sending shivers up my spine shaking me from the red mist that covered my eyes “JAKE“, Jess screamed.
I felt a cold gust blow through me and my link to Liberty suddenly crashed inside and as Zeus whimpered, Hawkins kicked at Zeus‘ mouth and scrambled to get free and Zeus let him go letting him run away.
I stood still not wanting to turn around as I felt the bond become weaker, that’s when it all stopped.
The leaves on the trees stopped blowing and I turned my head and saw Liberty’s lifeless body lay in Jess arms. However everything stood still, I couldn’t go to her, my heart hung heavy and I tried to shake the feeling that was hitting every nerve inside. As if it was tearing my insides out, Zeus Went to howl but no sound came from my body as everyone and everything was perfectly still.
Everyone with grief stricken faces and tears held in place on their cheeks, Only I seemed conscious of what was going on around me.
“It’s always nice to have a pause button, don’t you think?“, Said the old woman that emerged from the trees.
“Let me go, I need to save her!“, I growled.
My instincts took over, I needed to get to Liberty before it was too late.
“You left her!“The old woman snapped.
“So did you!“, I countered.
“I had my reasons, yours was because you can’t make peace with yourself!“She spat.
“She isn’t my mate!“, I declared.
However, saying the sentence made my heart darker than before. I felt it, I felt the bond of a mate but I rejected it in my heart, I felt it when they brought her to me, her images flashing through my mind, the glow that surrounded her, the intoxicating aroma that was her scent. I rejected this idea of happiness ever after she had a plan and I was not it. I would kill her to be with her if only she knew but the pull was undeniable that we shared but I hated her for everything that she stood for and she hated me. Our wolves though they didn’t, they only saw each other the rawness between them, their connection was flawing me everytime. When I fed her in those first few days it took all my control to hold Zeus back but when he hurt her and Carissa called to him I knew then that this woman had to go to live.
The lady shrugged, “She is lying there because you left her!“, she said pointing at her.
“Is it too late?“, I asked quietly, fear struck me I didn’t want her to die.
“Alpha Jake, I warned you this girl was special, only you can choose her fate“, she said.
I nodded, “You said that she needed to go back to the Jenkins pack. That was the deal,”
The woman walked towards Liberty and knelt beside her with her eyes shining through the tears that overwhelmed her, “Alpha Jake be careful what you wish for because you may lose everything by not accepting the shift between you two“, she said stroking Liberty’s face.
I couldn’t accept it, I frowned at this woman was the reason I couldn’t accept it but as if the lightning had hit me I realised I must make Liberty see. I must tell her the truth and then she would see that this path I had chosen was for her.

“I didn’t see what was happening before, then I watched my daughter fight, she pulled from the earth and sky to find you. Even she is battling within herself as you do,” she said as she shakes her head.
“Wench don’t hurt her!“, I called out.
“Hurt her!!!“, she spat.
“All you have done is hurt her!“, she hissed.
“I saved her“, I replied.
The woman planted her lips on lips forehead and kissed her softly, “Power within is so strong, moon goddess grant me one more“, she whispered.
“Stop, you will kill yourself“, I called out, her head snapped instantly to face me.
I couldn’t let this woman die without the curse being lifted from my sister and I head.
“Jake I will not die by saving my daughter, what happened to me was your fathers fault not my own blood!“, she said, narrowing her eyes at him.
“Old woman break my curse, then maybe I could choose the fate written for us“, I begged.
I felt the words that escaped me but I knew that they came from Zeus, he was willing to do anything to be with carissa.
For a moment through this whole conversation I could see she loved her daughter, that maybe if she believed we were mates then she would lift the curse she placed upon myself and my sister. Yet she laughed at me as she stood up from where she knelt, “Alpha Jake, a curse can only be broken by you,” she said, shaking her head as she walked back towards the forest.
“Though, I fear you won’t find out how until it is too late,” she said as she stepped out of view.
Suddenly I released the breath I hadn’t realised I was holding and could feel the breeze hit my face once more.
I ran to Jess‘ side as I heard her cry for Liberty, “Jess“, I said.
Shivers ran up my spine and goosebumps pricked my skin as I took Liberty from Jess arms.
Her warm breath hit my face, filling me with calm that I haven’t felt in a long time.
“Liberty“, I spoke softly to her.
She fluttered her eyes open and took her surroundings in, for the briefest moment I saw relief and happiness wash over her face when she recognised me. Then she pushed me away, climbing from my arms and screamed at me, “YOU WERE GIVING ME BACK!“.
I felt shame, regret and guilt drive through me that all I could do was stare at the ground with embarrassment as her pain hit me. “Tell Her Jake, Tell her it’s not true,” Jess pleaded with me.
I knew what I had done, I just wanted to explain but my whole pack was watching,” Enough“, I commanded.
Everyone dropped to the floor baring their necks as my aura washed over them.
Liberty amongst those as her tears rolled down her cheeks, “Don’t Jake“, Jess pleaded with me.
“Milo, watch the pack and the boundaries, I will be back in a few days!“, I commanded.
Even I felt this was a crazy situation and not one that could be explained with the watching eyes of my pack. Milo nodded as he bared his neck to me, I picked Liberty up and threw her over my shoulder. I could hear Jess pleads with me not to do anything stupid, however i wasn’t sure what I was going to do now, as I turned and made my way away from the pack.
