POV Jess

I had sobbed so much after Jake’s betrayal to Liberty that I had fell asleep and Milo had brought me home. As I stirred from my sleep disturbed by a commotion coming from the hallway. I pulled myself from my bed, throwing on my dressing gown and making my way to the door. As I put my hand on the door handle I heard a familiar voice say, “Is she in there? I need to speak with her☐☐.get out of my way Milo!,” Lisa yelled.

A Brief flutter bloomed in my stomach that Milo hadn’t left my side but I couldn’t help but grimace at the sound of her voice, she was such a nuisance I had no idea how Jake could tolerate knocking around with her over the years. I frowned as I heard Milo reply,“Lisa do not make me throw you out!“. He spoke quietly as if he didn’t want me to stir, I couldn’t help smiling at his consideration.

First thing I saw when I opened the door was Milos‘ back as he stood as a barrier between Lisa and my door. As I touched his shoulder I felt him shudder beneath my touch and as he stepped forward away from my hand I felt the cold breeze blow through me.

Frowning at his reaction I composed myself and spoke confidently even if I hadn’t felt it at that moment, “It is okay milo, i will talk with her“.

Milo’s face met mine and a questioning look flickered across his face then instantly he masked it with his usual cold stone exterior I have become accustomed too.

“I said it is fine,” I repeated as I stood back making space for Lisa to come into my bedroom. I could see the hesitation in Milo before reluctantly stepping aside.

Lisa stepped into my room giving a smug smile to Milo as she passed him. I saw his anger flare but he contained it as he stooped down and picked up his papers from the floor, “I will go do this in the office then,” he started taking one look at me.

I nodded to him,” Thank you“, I whispered and smiled at him but he did not respond back.

I felt my heart pull to him and sighed at the grief that seemed renewed daily with him around me. I turned back into the room and Lisa had sat on my bed, I frowned and rubbed my forehead, “What do you want Lisa?,” I said exasperated.

“Now Jess there is no need to be hostile to your Luna“, she said confidently.

I couldn’t help but laugh at her words, was she not there when Jake told her to go away, “You are not and never will be my Luna Lisa, you are deluded if you think that is

true!”

I couldn’t help but continue to laugh at the very idea she thought she was our Luna.

“Well we will see, Jake and I have often hooked up, it is only a matter of time,” she said, waving my rejections away and rolling her eyes.

“I have things to do, what do you want?!,” I hissed.

Her eyes lit up at my anger and I realised then I was already trapped within her drama and I couldn’t help but sigh in frustration.

“I heard Jake ran off with that bitch Liberty?“, she snapped.

I watched as she narrowed her eyes at me, raising her eyebrow awaiting for me to answer.

“Lisa, you have lost he is with who he needs to be,” i said gently knowing that however i had said it wouldn’t have lessened the hurt it would have caused her.

“She won’t be here long Jess you really shouldn’t get attached,” she said smiling.

Confusion flooded me instantly, “What do you mean?,” I queried.

“Ha, what do you want to talk about now? Moments ago you revelled in my pain,” she laughed.

I jumped forward clearing the space between us, flinging her down on the bed where she sat . I straddled her and wrapped my hands around her throat, through gritted teeth I hissed,” You need to tell me, do not think I am Weak!!“, I warned.

“Get off me you bitch“, she said, trying to push at me.

“Tell me!“, I demanded.

“Ha!!!!That Bitch needs to go back where she came from. She is Jenkins!“She spat.

“I told them she had gone with Jake, I told them there was no use turning our homes upside down to find her because she had left already!“, she hissed.

I could feel my anger rise and my strength tighten as she coughed as she gasped for air.

I hadn’t noticed the door flew open and Belle had rushed in, she shouted at me, “Jess you’ll kill her! STOP!!!“, she yelled.

She pulled me from my thoughts momentarily but it was enough for Lisa to regain control and push me away and stand quickly, “Jake will come back to me,

Luna YOU will pay for this treason today,” she said rubbing her neck and looking wild eyed and not the confident woman she was when walking in.

“Lisa, Jake hates you and you would be the one that will pay for any act of treason you cause our Luna Liberty!“, I said calmly.

“They will find Liberty and take her away, she will never be my Luna for the plan is I will be yours!“, she snapped.

Belle rubbed my arm to keep me in place and with one last look, “Do not say I didn’t warn you!“, she said leaving down the hallway. I could hear that her pace had quickened and I found satisfaction in the fact I scared her.

Belle stood for a moment, “Wow“, she uttered.

Then we both broke the uneasy silence by bursting into laughter, “You gonna tell me what made you want to kill that Bitch?,” she said smiling.

I shrugged, “Surprised I needed a reason“, I said smiling.

“She threatened Liberty, something about she is a Jenkins and needs to go back and that she told them ” I continued waving my hands in the air as if her words were nothing more than empty threats.

I saw Belle’s eyes grow huge and shift uncomfortably, “what is it?“, I demanded.

Uneasiness of what Lisa said settled within me and seeing Belle go from warm and friendly to a wreck in front of me in an instant.

Her face grew white and I thought she was going to faint there, “Belle what is it?,” I urged squeezing her arm for encouragement.

She shook her head, “I am so sorry Jess,” she stuttered.

I could see the realisation crash into her and her eyes welled with tears, “I saw Lisa about an hour ago, she was raging about Jake,” she said, rolling her eyes. “Right“, I said confused, Lisa was always raging about Jake.

“The Jenkins pack had slipped through the borders; we were all sent to the town hall to wait while the borders were made safe again“, she continued.

Losing my patience I couldn’t help tighten my grip on her arm, “What does this have to do with Liberty?“, I asked.

“Okay Okay,” she said, pulling her arm away from me, rubbing it from where I was too harsh.

“I heard Lisa take a call on her phone, she looked shifty as hell but that is Lisa, no difference there. But I just realised she may have told them about the house in the out of bounds area. You know the rumours that the woman that lives there that she is a witch from the Jenkins pack so no one goes near. Lisa always likes drama and I didn’t think she would actually be talking to the Jenkins pack” She said apologetically.

I quickly threw on some leggings and a hoodie and rushed to Belle “Come with me,” I said as I grabbed her arm and we hurriedly made our way down the hallway to the office. Milo had retreated too. I knocked and waited patiently.

The door opened and Milo’s face appeared before me, his eyes burrowed into me in a fleeting moment of warmth before they became dark and distant with me once more. “Milo, i think Jake may go to the house out of bounds to take Liberty,” I hurriedly said.

Milo’s expression did not change; he waited for me to catch my breath as I explained what had happened in the bedroom. I could see his eyes twitch and his brows furrowed when I said that I fought Lisa, yet he waited for me to explain everything and Belle jumped in and explained what she had heard. When we both had finished milo paced in the room, I watched as anger rippled through him but I wasn’t sure why he was so angry. Suddenly he reached for his pocket and pulled his phone and dialled a number, “Matthew take group A to the house out of bounds☐☐☐☐ Don’t argue with me boy go see what is there but do not approach the woman that lives there“, He ordered without waiting for a response he ended the call and threw his phone on the desk.

“Are you okay?,” he asked, gripping the desk so hard his knuckles turned white.

“I am fine“, I said dismissively.

“You saw how Liberty’s wolf changed today, she isn’t ordinary and her commands over the mindlink you felt it too didn’t you?,” I asked.

Milo stared down at the desk and he slumped his shoulders and sighed, “Yes I felt that too,” he agreed.

Liberty’s Secrets

“You saw how Liberty’s wolf changed today, she isn’t ordinary and her commands over the mindlink you felt it too didn’t you?,” I asked.

Milo stared down at the desk and he slumped his shoulders and sighed, “Yes I felt that too,” he agreed.

“You know that it means one thing,” I urged.

Milo shook his head, “No Jess, It means nothing Jake has told you before that even if she was his mate her fate could not be with our pack!“, He stated.

Milo was Jake’s biggest supporter; they had grown together and became the men they were today because of each other. I was disappointed that he hadn’t talked Jake out of rejecting his mate, he knew only too well the heartbreak and devastation it caused to be rejected because I had inflicted that upon him.

“She is special Milo, she can reach Jake. It is said that only Luna can reach an Alpha after all we all tried but then she succeeded,” I urged him to listen.

“JESS, Jake is his own man regardless of what we think he will choose what is right for our pack!“He stormed.

I was stunned by the coldness from his words as they cut through me like a knife, “This isn’t right! How can it be right for our pack!“, I snapped as anger filled through me. As Belle went to speak, Milo’s phone rang and he glared at us both to be quiet as he answered it, “Speak“, he ordered to the caller.

His eyes grew large and he pursed his lips, “okay great!“He huffed.

“You have to look after yourselves, Belle watch Jess for me☐☐.I have to go out“, He stated to us as he ended his call and put his phone in his pocket. “Is the Jenkins pack there?“, I asked.

Irritation grazed his face and he shook his head, “Jake is there, he has captured a man from the Jenkins pack,” he answered trying to satisfy me with this answer.

I think he could see the confusion in that he hadn’t mentioned Liberty as it etched on my face, “Matthew did not see Liberty, only Jake but it doesn’t mean that she isn’t there,” he said trying to calm my inner emotions.

I stood back allowing him to pass, “Stay safe,” I whispered.

If he heard me It didn’t show as he left.

“Do you think Liberty is okay?“Belle asked, distracting my endless thoughts that whirled around inside me.

“Belle, Jake is there she won’t be far from him. We don’t know anything yet but I need to go do something☐☐okay?,” I said as I rubbed her arm and went to leave. “Jess, where are you going?” she asked, trying to keep up with me as I made my way to the back door, “shhhhh Belle, Milo hasn’t quite left yet!“, I whispered.
