I saw Ben again at Zach’s bar.
I was done being a bartender, so I decided to
become a customer.
I was having a drink with a hot guy who had
just graduated, when suddenly the glass was
ripped out of my hands.
“Jo! I’ve been going crazy because of you,
and you’re out here drinking with another
<
guy?!”
The hot guy looked from Ben to me, unsure
of what to do.
I gave him a reassuring look and motioned for
him to leave.
Ben lost it. He sat beside me and covered my
eyes, “You’re not allowed to look at him.”
I yanked his hand away. “Can you just act
normal for once? My child died, you have
nothing to do with it.”
Ben put on his best pitiful look. “I’m so sorry.
I’ll never forget any special days we share
again. Tiffany and I have cut all ties now.”
I believed him. After what happened to them
at the hospital, I knew they were going to
separate.
く
But I didn’t care.
“Ben, I don’t care about whether or not
you’re with Tiffany. I just want to break up
with you.
Ben didn’t respond. Instead, he started
chugging glass after glass of liquor.
I couldn’t handle him, so I got up and left.
The next day, the hospital called.
Ben had alcohol poisoning. He had been sent
to the hospital, and kept asking to see me.
The hospital was in chaos, so they had no
choice but to call me.
I used this opportunity to make Ben agree to
a divorce.
“If you don’t sign the papers, I’m never going
to see you again.”
く
Ben was silent for a while. Then, I heard him
croak, “Fine.”
I went to the hospital with the divorce
agreement. Ben signed it without even looking at it.
Then he stared at me, with a look of longing.
I smiled, and he smiled back.
“Ben, the words I said earlier were a joke.
You think I’m going to forgive you? Dream
on!”
I could hear Ben crying in the hospital room.
I left with the papers, and the photos and
videos of Ben and Tiffany and I was able to
end the marriage, completely, without a trace.
Good riddance, you heartless ex–lover.
