Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Individual Circles
Luc sat on the other side of the round table, initially b
believing it was just Jake and Greg. To his surprise, a few unfamiliar faces were present, and his expression turned a bit cold and aloof.
“This is Luc, Jake said, breaking the ice. “Let me introduce you all. First, we have Matt, the eldest son of the Gray Corporation. He’s back from Sydney and is now the general manager, leading the food industry in Boston.”
“A pleasure to meet your Matt replied, exuding a polished demeanor in his black suit. Though not strikingly handsome, he radiated an air of authority that added a touch of nobility to his otherwise unremarkable appearance Luc acknowledged him with a polite nod.
“Next, we have Jeremy from Miele Enterprises, also freshly returned from abroad. His family dominates the hotel and recreation industry, controlling half of Boston’s entertainment market”
Speaking of Jeremy reminded Luc of another member of the Stew family, George Stew, a prominent businessman in Boston. His father’s company, Stone Corporation, spans various sectors, including real estate, finance, and healthcare. The Stews were responsible for most of the luxury properties in Boston In contrast to Jeremy, George remained a more enigmatic figure. Some described him as unremarkable, while others found him particularly attractive. Rumors suggested the operated Stone Corporation from abroad, maintaining a low profile. Jeff Stew, who distanced himself from the Stew family to establish his successful enterprise, had built a company that was now a significant player in both Boston and Welington.
When Jake introduced Luc, he adopted a casual tone, resting a hand on his shoulder. “This is Luc, my old classmate, a surgeon who just returned from the US. He’s also the eldest grandson of the Taylor family, a well–respected medical lineage in Boston. The Taylors have been serving as physicians for generations, dating back over a hundred years”
Luc brushed off Jake’s hand with a slight smirk. Flattering,” he remarked coolly
After the introductions, everyone nodded politely, acknowledging one another, Meanwhile, Greg sat off to the side, feeling overlooked. “Hey, Old Jake, why didn’t you introduce me? Am I invisible?”
Jake waved him off dismissively. “Get lost, Greg. Everyone knows you, the so–called big shot Greg. No introduction needed.”
“At least I’m
ma prince in the world of tennis! What’s this big shot nonsense? Show some respect Greg retorted, clearly annoyed by Jake’s attitude Not one to back down, Greg squeezed into the conversation, introducing himself with a laugh. “A Tennis Prince? Self proclaimed, right?” Jake teased. “Old Taylor, help me out here! He’s always picking on me! Greg turned to Luc for support. The tro had been playful friends since childhood, but with Jake and Luc studying in the US, Greg had often felt left behind. His father had wanted to send him abroad for a lavish lifestyle, but Greg struggled academically. His mother, concerned about his well–being, had insisted he return home after just a few months.
Upon his return, he had lost weight and darkened in complexion, causing his mother to blame his father for a time. Eventually, Greg completed his university studies and started a business with a ten–milion–dollar investment from his father. He ventured into live–streaming e–commerce and opened several tennis clubs, pursuing his passions. However, the live–streaming venture lost him millions, and while the clubs didn’t lose money, they weren’t particularly profitable either.
“Alright, how about you take everyone to your tennis club tonight and show off those skills you brag about? Self–proclaimed prince? Think you can compete with Matt?” Jake quipped:
Matt smiled slightly at the mention of Matt. “My skills are just for fun,” he replied modestly.
After a lavish dinner at a five star restaurant, Jake planned to send his cousin Sarah home. He hadn’t intended to bring her along Stil, their aunt insisted he take her shopping for clothes and accessories to broaden her social horizons, hoping she might meet a wealthy man after graduating from the Medical Institute
Now that introductions were complete, Jake feh it inappropriate for a group of men to head to a tennis club with a girl. But Sarah was determined to stay. Internally, Jake was perplexed. What was his mother thinking? All his friends were affluent young heirs surrounded by glamorous models and influencers. Would they be interested in his ordinary–looking cousin?
“Shouldn’t she focus on her studies and aim for graduate school? It would be better to use connections to secure a job in a hospital,” he mused. “Why is she trying to force her way into the upper social class? Maybe a little makeover wouldn’t hurt!”
Greg seemed to sense Jake’s dilemma and chuckled, “Old Jake, there are plenty of girls who visit the tennis club. It might be a good opportunity for Sarah to meet new people.”
Seeing Jake’s reluctance, Greg couldn’t resist teasing him further. “Come on! Just send me the address; let’s get going!”
Everyone knew Greg had connections with several online influencers and models for his live streaming business. Jake worried they
ey might not be a good influence on Sarah. While he had nothing against those in the industry, he feared Sarah might be tempted, especially since she hadn’t graduated yet. Originally, Luc had no intention of joining. However, the thought of returning home to face Emma, who had appeared different that day, made him reconsider. He decided to stay and accompany Greg to his billiard club.
“Dr. Taylor, did you drive here? Can I ride with you?” Sarah leaned closer to Luc, making Jake furrow his brow Was Sarah interested in Luc? He was married!
Even if he weren’t, it seemed unlikely he would be interested in her. His wife from Boston was his true companion
Before Luc could respond, Jake interjected, “Old Taylor is a germaphobe. Even his wife can’t ride in his car. You’d be better off with me.”
The revelation of Luc’s marriage caught Sarah off guard, Her face paled in shock. “What? He’s married?”

“Little sister Sarah, I can confirm. Old Taylor is indeed a neat freak and has been married for nearly a year. Maybe by this time next year, they’ll be expecting a baby,” Greg chimed in, relishing the drama.
Sarah found his teasing infuriating. How could he not notice the crush she had developed on Luc during dinner? Even though Luc hadn’t brought his wife
along, it was clear he didn’t hold her in high regard. Regardless, he was taken, and it was time for others to respect that!
