Chapter 39 The Asura Field Between
en First Love and ExFiancée
The vibration of Instagram interrupted his swirling thoughts Seeing that profile picture made his heart flutter, but unlike before he didn’t rush to open the
message with eagerness Instead he returned to his seat, staring out the window at the sky, his expression a mix of depth and desolation
Emma chose not to go downstairs, instead, she ascended to the rooftop of the hospital Gazing up at the clear blue sky and fluffy white clouds, she took a deep breath and finally acknowledged how far she had come
It had been four years. It was time to move on!
Initially, the thought tears would flow freely, to the avoided crowded spaces, seeking solitude on the rooftop the didn’t want anyone to witness her in
such a vulnerable state However, upon reaching the roof, she found that no tears came Instead, an imprecedented sense of relief washed over her
lightness that felt foreign. The knot in her heart seemed to dissolve slowly like sunlight breaking through after a storm
That afternoon, Emma would begin her vacation in two days, she would board a flight to the West
She hated a tam to return to the Back Bay district, quickly packed her belongings, and prepared to head back to Brookline Before the left, she informed
Mayline of her plans. When Mayline asked when she would return, Emma simply smiled and replied, I don’t have a return date yet.”
Mayline What happened to Emma? Didn’t she way she’d be b back in a month or two?”
Did she need to pack to much? it felt as if she were leaving for good.
“Emma, take care of yourself out there, and have a safe trip!”
Thank you Mayline
Emma glanced back at the place she had called home for nearly a year, feeling only relief, devoid of regret. She offered a faint smile, picked up her
suitcase, and stepped through the door.
Luc picked up his phone, swiped the screen, and opened the Instagram message from Lindsey: “Luc, my flight is tomorrow, I’ll arrive at Boston International Airport the day after tomorrow at 10:30. Don’t forget to pick me up—Love you!”
He replied simply, “Okay.”
Setting his phone down, he picked it up again moments later. He opened Instagram, unblocked Emma’s profile, and scrolled through her recent posts from
the last three days. This was the first time he had explored her account, and he recalled she had a Twater 100
What was her handle again?
He downloaded Twitter and tried to remember, typing in various possibilities, but none matched. Suddenly, a memory surfaced. On Valentine’s Day, she had gifted him a cartoon neck pillow, embroidered with their initials, E–LOVE–L. He had found it tacky, never used it, and tossed it into a dusty corner.
He searched for that name on Twitter and found dozens of results. Going through them page by page, he finally spotted a bunny avatar, and his eyes lit up with recognition. He clicked eagerly, and there it was–Emma’s Twitter account.
His sprits lifted instantly, he remembered she had planned to post pictures of the neck pillow, but when he clicked, he found nothing but a blank page. The only post read. “Bury the past in silence…
Aside from that, there were no other posts, no text, no images. Had she deleted everything?
Bury the past in silence?
He checked the date of the post and realized it was from last Saturday. Wasn’t that the day she visited the old house?
ays had argued with her, her mother had struck her, and demanded he divorce her. It was the day she learned about Lindsey’s
That was also the day Soraya
enstence
Luc’s expression froze, and he leaned back in his chair, stunned. No wonder she hadn’t contacted him since
That night, he had gone to the Johnsons‘ place, and she had asked if he was there to deliver the divorce papers
So she was waiting for the divorce papers.
Luc felt as if he were teetering on the edge of an abyss, his face calm, but his lips cold. Suddenly, his eyes turned icy, and his handsome features darkened as if shrouded in shadow..

tomorrow.
When Luc returned home that night, Mayline stepped forward and said, “Dr Taylor, Ms Emma is heading to the West the day
be making some stomach–soothing food for you these few days if you don’t
like the taste, please let me know in advance” “Oh, right, Emma just finished packing her luggage and left.” Lue didn’t have much of a reaction, it was only when he heard the latter part of the sentence that he responded, “Luggage?” “Yes, several large suitcases. Even if she’s going to the West, she shouldn’t need to pack so much right? It seems like she packed all her stuff and took it “Luc seemed somewhat unwilling to believe it. He quickly went upstairs, pushed open the bedroom door, and opened the wardrobe.
All of Emma’s clothes had been taken away. It was empty, nothing was left behind
He took a few steps back and sat down distractedly on the edge of the bed. He accidentally stepped on a fluffy object, and when he looked down, it was
cartoon neck pillow that Valentine said she would give him, which he thought
it was ugly and threw away. Emma had put it back in the cabinet, and now it lay
abandoned on the floor. He looked at it carefully, his finger touching a
string of letters on it, E–love–L, which were the initials she had described as
“Emma loves Luc. A feeling of loneliness and helplessness spread from his
heart…She… just left like this? She didn’t leave any traces!
At Boston International Airport,
Luc, dressed in a black mid–length trench coat, arrived at the terminal. After waiting for half an hour, Lindsey emerged from the exit, pulled her suitcase, and scanned the area for that familiar figure. When she spotted Luc standing tall not far away, she joyfully approached him, “Luc. I’m here!”
Her face radiated warmth, the light in her eyes barely contained. Luc heard her voice, looked up, and saw the affection shining in her gaze. He quickly walked over, and Lindsey wrapped her arms around his neck, “Luc, I’ve missed you so much!”
He embraced her gently, laughing softly, “Lindsey, welcome back to the country.”
He took her suitcase as she clung to his arm, “I knew you would come to pick me up. How long have you been waiting?”
“I haven’t been here long.”
Emma, dressed in a stylish khaki trench coat and skinny jeans that highlighted her long legs, stood out in the crowd. At five feet seven inches tall, her elegant neck had a radiant glow. She wore trendy camel colored boots, and her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, moving gracefully. Her bangs framed her face, and her understated makeup complemented her stylish outfit, making her a striking presence at the airport.
Her lips, tinted with cherry blossom pink, seemed to glisten with freshness, adding a touch of spring to her otherwise cool demeanor.
She rarely wore makeup, fearing that Luc wouldn’t appreciate her face covered in powder. Because he preferred gentle and demure girls, she had always dressed to meet those expectations–despite being in her mid–twenties, an age typically filled with playfulness and vibrancy. She had unwittingly transformed herself into a devoted partner, catering to Luc’s serious and aloof nature
“Now, it’s time to be myself!”
At this moment, she appeared softer, more beautiful, and more captivating than ever, her bright eyes sparkling as if they held a universe within them. Pulling her suitcase, she stepped lightly into the bustling airport hall
Ahead, she heard a familiar male voice. It was none other than Luc, laughing and chatting pleasantly with Lindsey. Who else could it be?
