Chapter 49: David Harper Wants To Protect Her
As it turns out, the old woman’s son is a well–known figure in the province. However, she detested the noise and chaos of city life. She had spent her entire life in Greenwood Village, and now, with all her children and grandchildren having moved to the city, she remained alone. They frequently called, trying to convince her to relocate for better care, but she always declined.
“My child,” the old woman said, “I am happy that you could leave this place. But my heart belongs here in the mountains. If I leave, I’d feel like a rootless wanderer, drifting without purpose. My body would be an empty shell without a soul.”
All she desired was for them to visit her during holidays and special occasions. She insisted they need not worry about her, as she was content living among the mountains. Her spirit thrived in this peaceful environment.
When she sought treatment, she felt looked down upon.
The next day, she visited Emma. Unlike others, Emma showed no disdain or disgust. Instead, she treated the old woman with sincerity and kindness. When the old lady returned home, she called her famous son in the city.
Soon after, her son arranged for a video crew to document Emma treating his mother for over a week. They posted this video on social media, and it quickly went viral, reaching the trending page. The caption read: “Your patience, professionalism, and the warmth in your eyes illuminate the world. Your gentle spirit spreads love everywhere!”

When Ariane saw the news, she was furious. If she had masked her contempt and treated that old lady with kindness, she could have been recognized as today’s ‘most beautiful healer.‘

Emma. Ariane gritted her teeth, questioning why everyone favored her.

She had thought Emma was lonely there. Despite the poor internet connection, she still sent messages and shared interesting news on Instagram.
Unexpectedly, someone could lead such a vibrant and fulfilling life in the West. Even her smile seemed to warm the hearts of others.
Emma was trending on Twitter, and her videos were blowing up on social media!
Lisa scrolled through the comments left by netizens:

Lisa grew more excited as she continued scrolling, thrilled for Emma. Suddenly, a strange idea flashed in her mind.
What if she dressed Emma in her newly designed outfits and uploaded pictures on various platforms? Wouldn’t her studio gain national fame?

He had requested the blog link from Lisa. On the day he started following it, Emma suddenly deleted all her recent posts. Did she realize he was following her and want to hide her thoughts?
The day after deleting her posts, she shared a message that read, “Bury the past in silence…”
A heavy weight pressed on his heart, making it difficult to breathe.
He feared her words referred to him, but he also hoped they did. At least that would mean she still remembered their past together.

A few months ago, when Luc visited Boston for an academic exchange, he extended his stay by a month–presumably to spend time with his first love- while Emma remained unaware.
