When she arrived at the banquet looking all dressed up, her normally confident demeanor crumbled at the sight of the bland food–overcooked chicken. bread fried to a crisp, and tables that looked worn and yellowed. Her eyebrows creased instantly into a frown.
Looking at the shabby tables and chairs, she couldn’t decide whether to stand or sit, not wanting to sit but also fearing the strange looks from others. Hence, she took out a tissue and wiped the chair several times before finally placing a tissue on the seat to sit.
Trying to spot him among the crowd at the banquet, where was he? Why couldn’t she see him? Was he not here yet?
The villagers of Maplewood were simple, honest, and hospitable. The majority were straightforward and kind hearted people. They brought out the best food from their homes for the banquet: chicken, fish, beef, and lamb. They used their traditional cooking methods; although the dishes didn’t look attractive, they tasted quite good.
