Chapter 57: Entrusting Her Hand to Mr. George
The village held a farewell feast for them. The local community leader, dressed in traditional attire, approached the banquet table and spoke in a mix of formal English and a local dialect
To all the friends from the medical team and the volunteer teachers, thank you for traveling so far to our village in the West. Life here is incredibly challenging, and our community is still developing. We lack many facilities, and yet, you have come here, overcoming numerous obstacles to provide us with free medical services and education. Once again, thank you, our esteemed quests, for your contributions and support!”
Later, he offered some blessings in the local language, which translated into English as: “On behalf of our community, I sincerely wish you all good health,
success in all your endeavors, prosperity, and the well–being of your families!”
The villagers and guests who were seated stood up, raising their classes to the community leader, smiling in gratitude for the hospitality and warm
welcome
Ariane quietly moved over to the volunteer teachers and struck up a conversation with a male teacher: “Hello, when will you be leaving?”
The volunteer teacher responded with a courteous smile: “Tomorrow.
Ariane continued, eager to inquire about George, giggling, “I’m Ariane from Hope Medical Center in Boston. Are you all from Boston?”
Seeing her smile, the male teacher replied bashfully, “Yes… We set off from Boston to come to this area, but not all the teachers are from there.”
Do you know if Mr. George is from Boston?” Aniane asked, her eyes sparkling. The male teacher initially thought her flirtatious demeanor was to get his contact information, but realizing she was asking about Mr. George, his expression changed. However, he still answered politely.
Mr. George did come from Boston, but we will be leaving soon.”
Upon hearing that Mr. George was also from Boston, Ariane felt a rush of joy. Only a city as vibrant as Boston could produce such a handsome and gentlemanly man.
Several of her colleagues sought George’s contact information. Today, three female doctors had already asked, making Ariane the fourth. However, male teacher didn’t disclose it, as he didn’t have Mr. George’s contact information either.

Mr. George joined the volunteer teacher team later on, Apart from the team leader, no one knew much about his background; he was simply have returned from abroad, hailing from Boston, with all other information kept confidential.
Sure enough, Anane approached again, “So… do you have Mr. George’s Instagram or contact details?”
Professor, this is for you,” she said, pulling out a box of chocolates from her bag–a gift from her cousin who had returned from abroad. She cherished it so much that she wouldn’t even eat it. She brought it along just for today, hoping to exchange it for George’s contact details.
The young professor glanced at the chocolates and smiled faintly, “Dr. Ariane, best take the chocolates back, I don’t have Mr. George’s contact information either. If you want his Instagram, you can find him directly.”
With that, he casually turned and left
Anane’s face fell, clutching her chocolates tightly. What could she do? If she approached George for his contact details, he would likely ignore her, as he had been polite yet distant in recent days.
Is that how thus all ends?
She returned to her seat, feeling dispirited, and saw George singing around a bonfire with a few students and Emma, holding hands.
Jealousy surged within her as she glared at Emma, wishing she could confront her. How could Emma flirt with Professor George when she was already married? A truly shameless woman, no wonder Luc had left her!
Regaining her composure, Anane walked over. By now, other colleagues and volunteer teachers had joined the gathering, and soon George was holding the little boy’s hand while the boy held Emma’s hand
Over a dozen people danced around the bonfire, moving freely and energetically. The little boy showed everyone how to clap, kick, and spin around the
bonfire in the center
As right fell, the stars twinkled like playful gems in the gentle sky, while a bright moon added a touch of tranquility to the lively scene on the grassland. Suddenly, the little boy pulled away, leaving Emma’s delicate fingers unexpectedly in George’s hand.
George was taki aback für a moment. That gentle breeze swept over the grassland, carrying a soft floral scent that reminded him of a blooming field. His handsome face glowed softly in the light, las features sharp and inviting as he looked at Emma, who was surprised.

George instinctively stepped back, trying to give space, but the little boy reappeared, grabbing Ariane’s hand while clutching George’s with his other hand. effectively blocking her attempt.
With a mischievous glint in his eyes, he said, “Teacher, I think I forgot to wash my hands after going to the bathroom.”
Ariane’s face twisted in anger, but she hid it well. Disgusted, she yanked her hand away and shot the boy a fierce glare before storming off to wash her hands
The little boy stuck out his tongue at her retreating figure and turned back to Emma with sparkling eyes, smiling sweetly, “Pretty Doctor, let me hold your hand
Seeing Emma hesitate, he added. “Doctor, my hands are clean. I just tricked Auntie, haha…“.
Emma couldn’t help but smile at his antics. She didn’t care about his hands; she found his spirit charming. With Ariane gone, they resumed holding hands and joined the others around the bonfire.
They played late into the night. As the excitement faded, a slight melancholy filled the air, as if everyone was reluctant to say goodbye.
-No feast lasts forever, and even the most dazzling fireworks eventually fade. All that remains is to take care of oneself.
After crossing countless mountains and rivers to reach this place, they had gone from strangers to acquaintances, to friends, and now faced an unexpected farewell.
The little boy cried, comforted in Granny’s arms. Just before falling asleep, he asked, “Mr. George and Doctor, will you come
e visit me again?“
