- 6.
Hearing Grandma Smith say that, I
immediately looked at the bodyguards.
“Clear out everything in all the rooms and
burn it.”
“And fire all the maids and servants for failing to do their jobs.”
Hearing that, the people who worked in the
house started freaking out.
“What? Why?”
“We were hired by Mr. Smith and Mia. You
can’t fire us!”
“Yeah. Mr. Smith and Mia haven’t said.
L
“Yeah, Mr. Smith and Mia haven’t said
anything yet.”
I scanned everyone and said coldly, “The
money you get paid comes from the Smith
family’s accounts.”
“Over the years, how many things have you
stolen and resold? Need me to find the
evidence?”
“And I can overlook the things you took, as
long as you help clear out these rooms.
Otherwise, I don’t mind calling the cops one
by one and arresting you all!”
All these years, these servants had relied on
my Dad and Mia to take things from me and
sell them for money.
L
Now that I had them caught, they didn’t dare
say a word. They started moving things out, panicking.
When my Dad and Mia got back, they saw all their possessions thrown on the ground, and I was holding a lighter.
“No!”
Mia tried to rush forward and grab the lighter,
panicked.
I dodged her and threw the lighter into the
pile.
In an instant, flames erupted, quickly
engulfing everything on the ground.
“Hailey thega pra may thingel!!
ADA.
L
“Hailey, those are my things!”
Mia looked at her designer clothes and
expensive bags with a heartbroken
expression, glaring at me.
“What right do you have to burn them?”
I took Grandma Smith’s arm and stood up
straight.
“Your things?”
“Dad bought all of these for you, right?”
“How much of it did he buy with the credit
card Grandma left me? Why don’t you ask
him?”
<
“These things were bought with my money.
What can you do if I burn them?”
My Dad pointed at me, too angry to speak.
“Hailey, you’ve got a lot of nerve!”
Grandma Smith pulled me close and glared at
my Dad.
“Robert, you’ve got a lot of nerve.”
“We said this house wasn’t allowed to be
changed.
“And yet you changed everything for this
foster daughter.”
“Since you like her so much, you can go and
<
“Since you like her so much, you can go and
live the same life as her.”
“You’ll get a letter of termination from the
company soon.”
“I’m going to take back all those properties, and you won’t have the right to use them
anymore.”
“And in the future, stay away from Hailey.”
With those words, Grandma Smith took me and left, leaving my Dad and Mia behind,
fuming.
Grandma took me back to the Smith house and told Grandpa everything that had
happened.
<
Grandpa was so angry that he broke a bunch
of glasses, yelling at Dad for a long time.
“That Robert! He promised us he’d take care
of Hailey!”
“But he let that foster daughter walk all over
her and even abused her.”
“Good thing I didn’t let him take over the Smith company. What would have happened?”
Seeing how worked up Grandpa was, I went over to comfort him.
“It’s okay, Grandpa. Don’t get so angry.”
“And don’t you think it’s a little strange?”
<
“Mia’s just a foster daughter. Why does Dad
care so much about her?”
Hearing what I meant, Grandma frowned.
“Hailey, do you think Mia and your dad
are…?”
Grandpa scoffed.
“He’s abusing Hailey. What else is he capable
of?”
“Don’t worry about this, Hailey. Leave it to
Grandpa.”
Knowing Grandpa was taking care of it, I
didn’t have to worry about anything.

I had the best night’s sleep I’d had in over a
decade.
When I woke up, I had hundreds of missed calls and messages on my phone.
I glanced at them. Dad, Mia, Chad, and the people who had bullied me in the past were
all there.
Not paying too much attention, I blocked
them all.
I went downstairs and ate breakfast with my grandparents, and the butler came up to me,
a little flustered.
“Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, Ms. Hailey.”
“Someone’s here to see you. It’s the
Petersons.”
