I’m anxious, waiting for my friend Mauricio. Angelito is just days away from being
born, and I don’t want to leave my doll alone.
None of my friends were available to come and cover the remaining time at the medical brigade, but Mauri finally managed to make room in his schedule and is coming to cover for me. I’m aware that leaving at this moment without fulfilling the time I committed to when I enrolled is unprofessional, but the truth is, I didn’t expect to meet the most wonderful woman here. I know she’s expecting another man’s child, and that she doesn’t know me well enough to fall in love with me, but I am very patient. I’m sure that when she realizes that I can make them very happy, she’ll

Anyone would think I’m being so obsessive, but to anyone who tells me that, I’d say just look into those beautiful eyes. The purity and kindness in them are enough to make anyone fall for her. And I wasn’t immune.
From the first moment I saw her, I knew I was lost, and as I got to know her, my feelings began to deepen.
When I found out that the man who rejected her for another woman had gotten married, I knew there was a slight chance to win her over, and I’ve dedicated myself to that body and soul during this time.
I finish packing my bags. I hope one day I can return the favor to my friend or enlist again. It’s something I’ve been doing since I finished my studies. I have the advantage that my parents own and run a prestigious hospital, which I’m aware I’ll have to take charge of someday. But for now, I’ll try to help wherever they need my
expertise.
I smile, thinking that my doll shares the same ideals and values. What we both love about our profession is being able to help those in need. She is the most generous soul I’ve ever known.
The sound of the door pulls me out of my reverie.

“Is anyone here?” I go to open it and see my friend. We give each other a strong hug, as it’s been a while since we last saw each other.
“Mauri, my friend. Welcome. Thank you so much for doing me this favor.” My good Mau enters the small room. We’ve shared time in other brigades, and by far, this is a good place. It’s comfortable and livable.
“Aaron, don’t worry. I’m glad to help. But you didn’t explain well what the urgency was.
I begin to tell him my little story with Annie, and he just smiles.
“Oh, my friend! You fell in love at first sight. She must be a very beautiful girl. I remember some of your girlfriends, and they were stunning.” What he says doesn’t make me proud. It’s true that I’ve been somewhat of a womanizer, but realistically, I’ve
never had a formal relationship. On the contrary, all those girls knew what to expect.
At twenty–eight, I’ve tried to live my life in a way that doesn’t affect anyone. Both with my family and my personal and work relationships.
“Yes, she’s the most beautiful. And I can’t let her go without trying to win her love. She’s worth it.” My friend smiles. He knows I don’t go around playing with women.
And right now, she has become my priority.
“Well, my friend. You tell me what happens now.” I take him to the camp director’s office, who already knows about my decision to leave.
“Good afternoon, doctor. Let me introduce Dr. Mauricio Mont. He’s the person who t will take my place. I assure you he’s better than me despite being younger.”
The doctor smiles and welcomes him.
“Well, with those references, I can’t complain. Welcome and thank you for answering your friend’s call.”
We chat for a while, but I see the time, and it’s time for me to go. I only have time to hand over the most important cases to my friend.
“Thanks again. I hope to see you soon.” My friend gives me a hug before I leave.
“I hope the next time we see each other, it’s at your wedding with that girl. I’m dying to meet her.” I give him a smile and silently pray that his wishes come true.
“I hope so too.” We hug goodbye. But at the last moment, I remember that the girls haven’t given me the address where I can find my doll, and I run to the gynecology

“Bones! What’s up?” Martha appears in my path. I give her a strong hug. She and her sister have been the best friends in the world to Annie, and they have welcomed me
with much affection.
“Martha. I’m leaving. My friend arrived. Please give me Annie’s address. And don’t tell her anything.” She nods and takes out her notepad to write down the information I
heed.
“Here. It’s this. Please take good care of her for us. Tell her we love her very much and
that we’ll see her soon.” I smile at her words. And give her this. She hands me a small
box, and I put it in my pocket.

“Of course, I’ll tell her, though she already knows. Take care, and look after my friend Mau. And say goodbye to your sister for me.” She nods and smiles. I run to grab my bags. The vehicle that will take me out of here arrives for me, and it’s time to leave. I look back at the place. I’m sure I’ll return someday, and if not, I’m very glad I came.
The flight feels endless. But when the plane announces we’re about to land, my soul
returns to my body.
I’m going to stay at a hotel, but the most important thing for me right now is to get to Annie. I feel a tightness in my chest that I don’t understand.
“Sir, could you go a little faster?” The driver shakes his head.
“Sorry, young man. I’m going at the speed limit.” I fall silent after his words.
Impatience is consuming me. The taxi stops in front of a large and beautiful mansion. I quickly get out, and the driver accompanies me to the back to get my bags.
“Here you go, sir, and sorry for rushing you.” I hand him a generous tip. It wasn’t bis fault I was desperate.

“Good afternoon. How can I help you?” the woman asks kindly. I smile at her, and she returns my gesture.

“Good afternoon. I’m looking for Miss Annie. I’m a friend of hers.” The lady’s expression changes to one of concern.
“Sorry. The miss has been taken to the hospital. It seems the baby is about to be born.” Nerves hit me. It’s not time yet. Something must have happened. At that moment, someone behind me asks with doubt.
“Who are you, and why are you looking for my sister?” I turn to see who’s speaking and see a lovely girl who looks like my doll.
“Hello. My name is Aaron Jordan, and I’m a friend of Annie. Which hospital was she taken to?” She looks at me with distrust, so I explain who I am.
“Your sister and I met at the medical camp. I wanted to be with her during this time. Can you tell me where they took her?”
She thinks for a moment and nods, though she’s not completely convinced.
“Okay, I’ll trust you. I’m heading there. Let’s go, I’ll take you.” I smile and can’t help but approach her and give her a kiss on the cheek.
“Thank you, thank you.” I turn to the lady. “Please, take care of my bags.” The kind lady smiles and nods. I follow the girl to her car.
“Doll, Angelito. I’m already here!
