Suddenly, Brenda glared at me, her eyes full of
hate.
I almost laughed. She messed up, and she was
blaming me?
To stir the pot even more, I put on an act,
pretending to be heartbroken.
“Brenda, we treated you like family! How could
you do this to Mark?”
“I took you in as my own daughter. Mark
worshipped you! How are we ever going to show our faces again?”
I was really getting into it, even squeezed out a
few tears.
Brenda, seeing me call her out, started
backpedaling, claiming I’d set her up.

“I didn’t know what was happening today. You
must have drugged me or something, then
planned all of this out!”
The facts were right in front of her, but she was
still trying to wriggle out of it.
But nobody was buying it, of course.
She tried to keep lying, but Mark, his face dark,
cut her off.
He went up to Brenda and slapped her a few
times, then spat at Dave.
“You filthy, disgusting, cheating whore!”
“Brenda, what did I do to deserve this? How
could you do something so low?”

Mark started punching Dave.
For a few seconds, Dave taunted Mark, saying
he wasn’t man enough to satisfy his wife.
Mark got even angrier, hitting him harder and
harder until Dave was a bloody mess.
Brenda was also screaming in pain.
I pretended to try to break it up, secretly loving every minute.
Just as Dave was about to pass out, the paramedics arrived, called by someone earlier.
Seeing the ambulance, they both looked
relieved, finally catching a break.
Mark and I, as “family,” were forced to go to
the hospital too

and Dave.
Brenda was badly torn, so she had to stay at
the hospital for treatment.
Dave, probably humiliated, transferred to
another hospital right away.
