“Are you deaf?”
Ryan didn’t like me staring at him; his voice
was icy.
I rolled my eyes and tried to sidestep him.
“Move it. I’m going upstairs.”
He blocked the stairs, looking down at me. “I
told you, stay at school.
“Everyone here is celebrating Brittany’s
coming–of–age. You shouldn’t even be here.
“If you’ve forgotten what I warned you about
“If you’ve forgotten what I warned you about,
I don’t mind reminding you again.
“If Brittany’s party is ruined even a little
because of you, I…”
A glass of red wine was poured all over his
face. He tilted his head slightly, clearly not
reacting.
“Warn, warn, warn! Who do you think you
are?!
“Do you think I’m so desperately in love with
you that I’ll just leave if you tell me to?!”
I didn’t care that the person in front of me
was the golden boy of the city; I didn’t give
him any face:
Г
“Let me leave? Open your eyes and look
clearly, this is my house!
“Who do you think you are to block my way?
“Ryan, let me tell you, in the past, now, and in
the future, I have never liked you!
“You are nothing to me! You’ve never had the
right to make demands of me!”
The lively crowd quieted down.
Everyone stared at the well–dressed young
master of the Prescott family being cursed by
a girl in a dirty school uniform.
Ryan was stunned, and the germaphobe even
forgot to wipe the wine off his face.
“What… did you say?” He looked at me,
frowning tightly.
I was still holding the empty wine glass,
lowering my eyebrows:
“I said, Ryan, who do you think you are!”
“You!”
His eyes were filled with shock.
But before I could continue, someone
grabbed my shoulder.
Then, a slap landed hard on my face,
knocking me to the ground.
