Liam left, defeated.
But the next day, he was at my door again,
wanting to take me to work.
I didn’t refuse.
Until our divorce was finalized, we were still
supposed to be a high–profile, happily-
married couple.
<
Liam was being extra nice to me. He would
give me a report on everything he did.
He kept texting me.
I didn’t read them, let alone reply.
People at the company called me Mrs.
Walker.
They knew my status. I wasn’t interested in clocking in and out every day. Now that I had
money, there was no reason for me to work
that hard.
I kept a fake position, only showing up
occasionally.
I knew about Seraphina because of my
friends at work. This time, when I came to the
<
office, my friend saw Liam dropping by my
office often. She asked if Liam had changed
his mind.
I just laughed.
I invited her out for dinner after work.
After she agreed, I texted Liam, telling him he didn’t need to pick me up after work.
[Then I’ll pick you up after you’re done.]
[Ok.]
I agreed.
