Liam finally signed the papers.
He had to.
<
Seraphina told the media about her
pregnancy. The story was all over the news.
The stock market went down, the
shareholders were pissed.
Liam couldn’t let me sue him.
Since his cheating was out in the open, the
lawyer got me the best deal.
Seventy percent of their wealth.
The lawyer told me, “Actually, it was sixty percent, and Mr. Walker gave the other ten
percent voluntarily.”
I laughed, and accepted it.
The day I walked out of the courthouse.
<
It was raining.
I guess I had a thing with rain.
All the important things in my life, always happened on a rainy day.
Our engagement, our wedding, the first time
Liam cheated on me, the day I decided to get a divorce, and the divorce day, too.
It was drizzling.
Liam was standing next to me and said softly, “I’ll take you home.”
I shook my head.
“No, someone is picking me up.”
Right then, Lucas squeezed himself between
me and Liam, holding up an umbrella.
“Girl, I’m here! It’s cold, put on a jacket,
you’re already catching a cold.”
He kept nagging and put a jacket on me.
I accepted it.
And walked under his umbrella.
Right then.
The rain stopped.
I looked up.
The sun had come out, it chased away the
gloom, and the sunlight warmed my body.
L
I laughed.
I looked back at Liam and waved.
“Goodbye.”
The storm has passed.
Goodbye.
Darkness.
Epilogue–Regret, Useless
That day, Liam stood there.
Watching Chloe and another man, under an
umbrella, walking away.
He could still hear the boy’s loud voice,
<
Chloe’s resigned smile, but her eyes were full
of joy.
That easiness was something he hadn’t seen
in a long time.
He had known a long time ago that Lucas.
wasn’t Chloe’s boyfriend.
Chloe wouldn’t do that.
She had tried it once, with a guy. They looked
so close, but when Liam saw the guy’s face,
he stopped caring.
Because that guy, looked just like him.
She couldn’t let go of him.
She wouldn’t take that step.
<
And as he expected, that charade was over in
a month.
Chloe didn’t do anything out of line after that.
When he was drunk, he told his friends about
- it.
His friend was stunned.
A moment later his friend snorted, “Maybe
she doesn’t love you. Maybe she’s just not as pathetic as you.”
“Liam, you’re going to lose her.
“And when that happens, don’t you dare regret it.‘
What did he say back then?
<
Liam thought about it, and remembered.
Back then, he was so sure of himself, he
laughed. “How could I regret it? Chloe is the
one who can’t live without me.”
He thought he didn’t care about Chloe.
After all these years, he was clearly over her.
But now.
Watching Chloe walk away, his heart was
broken. It was like he had lost the most
thing i
important thing in his life.
He wanted to chase after her.
But the second his foot moved, he stopped.
