Lily flinched, her expression turning awkward. Rylan immediately shielded her behind him.
“Britta, you two are about the same age. Lily just wants to be
your friend. There’s no need to be so aggressive.”
“Look, it’s our anniversary today. I don’t want to argue with you. Why don’t you cool off for a bit? I’ll walk Lily back to her room first.”
Watching their retreating figures, a chill instantly permeated my limbs.
Rylan is Elliot’s brother, and I am Rylan’s wife.
As Elliot’s wife, it’s only natural for Lily to call me sister–in–law.

What was there left for me to misunderstand?
Lily had done this on purpose. She’d deliberately left the door open, intentionally letting me witness this scene.
I smiled at Lily and thoughtfully closed the door for them. Five years of marriage, and even in bed, Rylan had always been gentle. I’d never seen him so passionate as he was just now.

Beside him, Lily’s face changed as she clutched her belly and let out a soft sound.“I’ll never forget this, Rylan. My stomach hurts so badly.”
Rylan’s face was filled with hesitation, but he ultimately decided to help Lily leave first.
