It was Noah who carried Eden. He didn‘ t pay Keith any attention when Keith told him to put Eden down. Instead, he took her back to her ward, laid her on the bed, and gave her the flowers he had promised to bring her.
Less than a second later, Keith marched in angrily and demanded that Noah leave his wife alone.
Noah stood his ground. “I never knew Eden to be your wife.”
Keith’s face turned red with anger, his fists clenching at his sides.
Eden winced from the tension, her voice weak. “Keith, I don‘ t need this right now. My head is hurting.”
Before Keith could respond, Noah jumped in, his voice sharp. “Keith, how could you treat the woman you call your wife like this? Aren’t you ashamed of yourself? You

claim her as your wife, yet you treat her like garbage. Instead of standing by her, you pushed her away and took another woman’s side.”
Keith’s jaw tightened, but before he could speak, Georgia stepped forward, her tone icy. “Noah, stop talking nonsense. You‘ re getting under my skin.”
Keith nodded in agreement, his voice hard.
“You’ve said enough, Noah. Leave the ward now.”
Noah didn’t back down. He turned to Georgia, his words cutting. “You‘ re a lying bitch, and Keith knows it. He’s just pretending. Deep down, he knows Eden is innocent.”
The room fell silent after his words. Without waiting for another response, Noah turned on his heel and left.
Outside, he climbed into his car and started the engine, but his eyes narrowed when he saw Georgia standing directly in

front of his vehicle. He blew the horn, signaling her to move, but she didn’t budge. Clearly, she wanted his attention.
Sighing, Noah turned the car off, climbed out, and faced her. “What do you want?” he asked, irritation lacing his voice.
Georgia smirked, crossing her arms. “Why don‘ t we work together and achieve what we both want?”
Noah frowned. “What the hell are you talking about?”
Georgia stepped closer, her tone soft but manipulative. “You like Eden. That much is obvious. And me? I like Keith. I’m tired of you making me look like the bad guy here. I’m not the villain, Noah. I’m just trying to win Keith back. Isn’t that fair?”
Noah’s expression darkened. “Why would I work with you?”
Georgia shrugged, a sly smile spreading across her lips. “Because we can help each other. You want Eden–don’t deny it. And

I want Keith. If we work together, we both win. Think about it.”
Noah looked at her for a long moment, his jaw tight, his mind racing. Finally, he exhaled sharply, shaking his head with a bitter smile.
“Fine, we will do things my way,” Noah said.
You don’t ever hurt Eden. If you do, I’ll make sure Keith hates you,” Noah said before getting back into his car and driving off.
Georgia stood there, glaring at his
retreating vehicle. “Let’s see who gives the orders, Noah,” she muttered under her breath.
She turned on her heel and walked back into the hospital, her heels clicking sharply against the tile floor. When she reached Eden’s ward, her steps slowed. The sight in front of her made her freeze.
Keith was sitting on the edge of the bed,

holding Eden‘ s hand gently in his. Eden was fast asleep, her breathing soft and steady, but Keith‘ s expression said it all. He was looking at her with a tenderness. that made Georgia‘ s chest tighten. A pang of jealousy shot through her, hot and sharp.
“So that’s it,” she whispered to herself, her fists curling. “That’s why he refuses to sign the divorce papers. He’s starting to love her.”
Her mind raced, bitterness bubbling inside her like a storm she couldn’t control.
“This cannot happen. Not on my watch. If I can’t have you, Keith, then nobody will.”
Georgia turned sharply and stormed out of Eden’s ward, her heels clicking even louder this time. She walked with purpose, her anger pushing her toward one clear intention–Pa Greg’s ward.
When she reached the elderly man‘ s room, she paused outside the door, steadying herself. Taking a deep breath,

she stepped inside. Pa Greg was lying there, his chest rising and falling weakly as the oxygen mask helped him breathe.
Georgia scanned the room. To her
annoyance, Sally was standing by the bed, checking Pa Greg‘ s vitals.
Georgia put on a fake smile, her voice sugary sweet. “Sally, could you please run a quick errand for me? I need a water bottle from the nurse‘ s station. I’d really appreciate it.”
Sally glanced at her, uncertain. “Are you sure? I was just-”
“It’ll only take a minute,” Georgia insisted, her smile not faltering. “Don‘ t worry, I’ll keep an eye on him.”
Reluctantly, Sally nodded and left the room. As soon as the door clicked shut, Georgia‘ s smile dropped, her expression darkening. She stepped up to Pa Greg‘ s bedside, her gaze fixed on the oxygen tube.
“Die, old man,” she whispered, her voice

cold. “Once you‘ re gone, Keith will have no choice but to turn to me.”
Her hand reached for the oxygen mask, her fingers hovering over the tubing. Just as she was about to pull it away, the door creaked open.
“Ma‘ am?” a nurse’s voice interrupted. Georgia froze, her back stiffening.
“We would like for the patient to be alone right now,” the nurse said politely.
Georgia quickly spun around, schooling her features into a sweet smile. “Of course,” she said smoothly, lowering her hand. “I was just about to leave. He needs his rest, after all.”
The nurse nodded, stepping back to let Georgia leave. Georgia walked out of the room, forcing herself to keep calm even though her insides burned with frustration. Once she was outside the hospital, her mask of calmness fell.
She gritted her teeth and clenched her fists

as she walked to her car. Before getting in, she whispered under her breath, her voice laced with venom.
“I won’t carry last in this game. I’ll win.”
Then she climbed into the driver’s seat and drove off, the tires screeching as she left the parking lot.
