The wolf king is my dog
Chapter 1
My winter break plan was simple: chill with my
boyfriend and bestie. But they lured me to the
Badlands and slipped something nasty into my
drink.
Next thing I know, I’m tied up in what looks like
a freakin‘ werewolf den!
Besides me, there were other guys and gals,
looking just as terrified. Apparently, the ugly
ones were gonna be, like, a blood sacrifice. The
“pretty” ones? Breeding stock for werewolves.
Charming.
I figured I was toast, until I saw their leader. The
Alpha. Turns out, it was freaking Sparky. My old
dog.

I blinked, trying to focus. Before I could even
get my bearings, a set of fangs the size of my
hand lunged at me.
“Wolf! There’s a wolf!”
Scrambling back, I slammed into a cold stone
wall. No escape. The thing kept coming, eyes blazing, drool dripping. Seriously hungry.
Just when I thought I was about to become wolf
chow, I saw Brittany, my so–called best friend,
and Chad, my boyfriend (ex–boyfriend, I guess),
stroll into view.
“Help me! Get me out of here!” I screamed, like
they were my personal cavalry. But all I got
were smirks.
“Help you? Girl, we practically had to sell our
souls to get you here!” Brittany hissed.

Seeing their smug faces, my stomach dropped.
“Wait…what? Why? I’ve always been good to
you guys!”
Just like I’d feared, Brittany, my ‘ride or die‘ for
20 years, was holding hands with Chad, the
dude I was actually starting to think about
marriage with.
“All that trust fund money got to your head,
honestly? Seriously, who do you think you are?
We’re gonna use your money, get married, and
get some rugrats running around. As for you,
just chill in this werewolf’s crib and become a
tasty sacrifice!” Brittany cackled, the evil
spilling out of her. And I swear, that last
sentence was the thing that scared me most.
Werewolves? Seriously? This isn’t a freaking
cheesy movie.
As if on cue, the wolf next to me started
twisting and contorting In seconds it stood

twisting and contorting. In seconds, it stood
upright, fur receding, turning into a real human
being!
I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it
myself.
“She’s actually not that bad lookin‘. Too bad
about the sacrifice thing. How about we keep
her around to help build up the werewolf
family? I mean, the sacrificial pool is already
filled.” The werewolf reached out, long, wicked
claws grazing my cheek. A sharp sting, and
blood began to seep out.
Looking around, taking in his words, I saw I
wasn’t the only one tied up.
“She’s kinda cute? Are you kidding me? I say
just off her now. Breed her? That’s just going to
get her some easy pleasure time!” Brittany
spat, her face full of pure hate.

“What we do with her is none of your concern,
human.” The werewolf flashed his claws at
them. Instantly, they backed down, shaking in
their expensive boots.
“Brittany! Chad! You guys are gonna get what’s
coming to you!” I roared, my throat raw.
How could the people I trusted most do
something this twisted?
“Shut your mouth!”
Just as the words left my mouth, the werewolf
next to me kicked me, square in the chest.
His foot was strong and sharp. My vision went
blurry, and my back erupted in streaks of pain.
He grabbed my face, fingers digging into my
skin.
He looked me up and down, eyes narrowed.

“Not bad. Real cute. You’re gonna be breeding
for us werewolves anyway. Might as well let me
have some fun first!”
He reached for my clothes.
Panic clawed at me. I started to fight, wriggling
like a trapped animal.
But that just earned me a brutal beating.
“Filthy human! Breeding with the werewolf clan
is your honor! Who are you to refuse?” He
slammed my head into the ground, over and
over.
My nose felt like it shattered, and stars
exploded behind my eyes.
I could hear Brittany and Chad laughing,
snapping photos on their phones.
Betrayal, rage, terror… it all crashed down on
But mostly, it was despair.
Was this really how it ended?
Just then, a howl cut through the air, so loud it
rattled my teeth.
The werewolf holding me dropped me like a hot
potato, shifting into his wolf form, howling in
response.
Suddenly, the prairie was alive with the chilling
cries of the pack, scaring every critter for miles.
Then, a huge figure emerged from the
darkness. The other werewolves bowed low.
The Alpha. And when his handsome face came
into the firelight, my jaw dropped.
It couldn’t be… Sparky?
