Mark disappears.
I open a branch of my company in another
city.
I buy a house.
Sometimes, when I touch my cat, I think about
Mark.
His life is not good.

His company is not doing well.
He’s working a lot.
Ashley is also a problem.
After she got out of the hospital, she became
crazy.
She follows Mark.
She says, “Mark, why do you like other
women? It’s just a breakup. You and I broke
up before. You’ll be back.”
She cries. “Mark, I waited so long. Why
haven’t you come back?”
Mark is tired of it.

He hits her and yells at her, but she always
comes back.
Mark gets angry.
He beats Ashley up in public.
Ashley has a mental illness, so she doesn’t
get in trouble.
But Mark is sent to jail.
The video of him hitting Ashley is posted
online.
People are mad at him.
They find out that he stalked me.
He gets even more hate.
His company’s stock goes down.
When he gets back, the shareholders are
angry.
But Mark has more problems.
He put Ashley in the hospital.
Ashley’s family is angry. They sue him.
Mark has two choices: he can lose the lawsuit
and go to jail, or he can take care of Ashley
forever.
This goes on for a month.
When it’s over, Mark and Ashley get married.
He marries the woman he didn’t want.
And he has to take care of her forever.
He’ll be stuck with Ashley.
I didn’t think I’d see Mark again.
It was an accident.
He saw me and looked upset.
He called out to me. “Sarah, are you okay?”
I look at him.
He’s doing bad.
He has gray hair, wrinkles, and he looks

That’s a bad thing for a man who’s trying to
get his career going.
I raise my eyebrows and don’t say anything.
Before I get in the car, he’s still looking at

Mark’s eyes get big.

him.
I get in the car and drive away, leaving him in
the dust.
When I was with Mark, I found out he had an
ex he broke up and got back together with for
five years.
I didn’t like it.
He told me he wouldn’t talk to her again.
But he did.
We got married in the morning, and I went to
work.
When I got home early I heard them in the

It was Mark and Ashley.
I didn’t push the door open.
I gave Mark some respect.
Cheating is where I draw the line.
I couldn’t deal with it.
But I couldn’t say anything.
Mark was greedy.
I heard him call his friend.
He said, “I made a mistake. I don’t want to be
married. And she doesn’t love me as much as
Ashley does.”
“Ashley would do anything for me. Sarah is
too cool. It’s boring.”
“I want to break up with her for a while, until
I’m ready.
“Amnesia? If I lost my memory, would she get
upset? What would she do for me?”
