To save my first love, my husband and son abandoned me and went back to ten years ago
Chapter 1
The anniversary of my wedding day.
The day Mark’s been working on his time
machine for a decade.
He wants to take our son back to be with his
dead sweetheart.
Before they left, Ryan rolled his eyes at me.
“You’re just a babysitter.
Don’t stop Dad from seeing Amy!”
Mark’s voice was cold and distant.
“Sarah, I already sold the house.
You need to move out ASAP.”

く
I just smirked.
“You’re gonna regret this.”
I followed them to the lab.
As the machine powered up, I reached for the
light.
They had no idea I was waiting for this
moment for ten years.
Waiting to save my real husband and
daughter.
Mark’s research finally paid off.
He’s taking our son, Ryan, back to ten years
ago.
I found out on the news.

<
Today was our tenth anniversary, and I had
dinner ready.
I was waiting for him to come home.
As soon as he walked through the door, I
rushed to greet him.
“Honey, I made your favorite.
Happy Anniversary!”
Mark just sighed.
“Sarah, it’s over.
You’ve been great with me and Ryan, but I
can’t forget Amy.”
His cold eyes were lifeless.
Like he was saying something totally normal.
I was holding a hot plate, but didn’t feel the
heat.
く
I reached for the mole near his eye.
“Mark, are you saying you want a divorce?”
“My experiment worked.
I’m going back to Amy.”
Amy was Mark’s first love.
She died ten years ago, and he never got over
- it.
“Yeah, I’m taking Ryan with me.”
He almost smiled, thinking about seeing her
again.
My plate fell out of my hands and crashed on
the floor.
“You’re… going back?
Back to ten years ago?”
“I’m taking Ryan with me.”
He almost smiled, thinking about seeing her
I grabbed his arm.
“What about me, Mark?
What am I?
Today’s our anniversary…”
“It’s over.
Between us.”
Mark peeled my fingers off his arm.
“So, you’re just ditching me?”
“Ryan, you’re ditching Mom too?”
My son rolled his eyes and walked over to
Mark.
He sized me up with disgust.
“You’re old and ugly, always at home looking
like a mess.
Amy’s way better.
Don’t make us miss out!”
<
Ryan got sick, and I was up all night, for days.
He called me “Mom” and gave me paper
cranes from school.
Now, he thinks I’m annoying, like a babysitter.
“Face it, I’m not coming back.
I signed the house over to Amy’s foundation.
Pack your stuff and get out.”
Mark added.
It was a joke.
They sold the house to Amy’s foundation
before they even left?
“Fine,” I said.
“Hope you don’t regret it.”
“Regret?
I’d only regret not being with Amy!”
く
Mark said, very seriously.
He and Ryan left.
They didn’t see me following in another car.
Mark and Ryan were excited in the lab.
There was a bright machine on the table.
“Dad, will this take us back to Amy?”
Ryan asked, his eyes wide.
“Yep,” Mark said.
“Amy will be your mom, once we’re back.”
My ten years of love meant nothing.
They’d risk anything for Amy.
That was fine.
As they disappeared in the light, I ran in.
I touched the machine as the light went out.
The machine pulled me in.
Next thing I knew, I was standing on an empty
street.
Everything was familiar.
I was back.
I was happy but then I heard, “What are you
doing here?”
Mark was staring at me.
“You didn’t follow us, did you?
Sarah, give it up.
We’ll never be together.”
He scowled.
“You witch! Don’t hurt Dad and Amy!”
Four–year–old Ryan stood in front of Mark,
like I was the enemy.
く
“Sorry,” I said blankly.
“Do I know you?”
Mark frowned, still suspicious.
“Don’t play dumb.
Who else would believe you didn’t follow me,
Sarah, what are you planning?!”
I turned away.
“Don’t go!” Mark yelled.
“I’ll ask again, what are you planning you liar,
trying to ruin me and Amy?!?”
He grabbed my wrist, hurting me.
I pulled away and stumbled into someone.
“Ouch!”
Before I could say sorry, I got slapped.
Mark spat on the ground.
“You’re sick, Sarah!”
Г
Mark was holding the girl.
He looked at her like she was treasure.
“Amy, are you okay?”
He asked softly.
“Are you blind?” Ryan said.
He ran to Amy, worried.
Oh, so they could care about people?
I had the flu and begged Mark to get me
medicine.
He frowned, “Can’t you get it yourself?
I have work, I’m busy!”
He left, leaving me sick in bed.
I asked Ryan to call a doctor, but he played
games.
“Wait until I’m done,” he said, annoyed.
Hours later, the cleaner found me passed out.
She called an ambulance.
Now, Amy was bumped, and Mark hit me!
It was a joke.
Amy leaned on Mark, looking pale.
“She didn’t mean it,” Amy whispered.
“Mark, who is she?”
Mark paused.
“She’s…”
“A bad lady who likes my dad!” Ryan said.
Amy’s eyes flickered when she heard that.
“Oh…sorry.
Am I in the way?” she asked.
く
“No way.
We’re nothing,” Mark said.
Ten years of marriage, just gone.
I laughed bitterly, getting up.
“Mister, I don’t know you.
You pushed me and hit me, and now you’re
saying weird stuff.
Are you sick?”
“Don’t act innocent.
You followed me, I know it!”
Mark’s eyes were full of hate.
“I said, I don’t like you.
Leave me alone.”
“Yeah!
Dad only likes Amy!
Give it up!” Ryan chimed in.
Then, a familiar voice called from across the
street.
“Sarah!”
I looked up.
A man in a white shirt and suit was waiting
for the light.
He held an ice cream in one hand and held a
little girl’s hand with the other.
The girl waved at me.
My fingers trembled, and my nose started to
burn.
