Jake stood at the end of the aisle, watching the
doors.
His bride was coming.
The thing I wanted most was finally happening.
But it wasn’t me.
Ashley walked towards Jake, everyone was
envious.
The officiant began to speak.
I was watching the man who said he’d marry
me, and now he loved someone else.
My eyes got warm.
I wanted to leave.
“Annie, it’ll be over soon.”
Г
Riley said softly, and at that moment,
everything went black.
Next, the doors crashed open and police barged in.
Riley smiled. “Looks like someone wasn’t past
the point of saving after all. Annie, the show’s about to start.”
I saw Riley hit a button.
The pictures of the wedding were gone,
instead, a video appeared.
My car crash.
Ashley running from Jake’s home.
I realized what Riley’s gift was.
He was showing Ashley’s true colors.

The wedding guests started to murmur.
Ashley looked to Jake for help.
Jake pushed her away, he saw her as garbage.
“Ashley, you didn’t think you could hide what
you did.”
“You killed my mom and Annie.”
“You should die.”
Ashley cried, but Jake watched the police take
her away.
The wedding had been a joke.
Riley stood up and was ready to go.
As we walked out the door, a voice called out.
“Riley, give me Annie’s ashes.”

“I looked at the crematorium’s security tapes.
You took Annie’s ashes. Riley, give Annie back.”
Riley said angrily, “You’re the one that ground
her ashes into the floor, what right do you have
to say anything?”
“Riley!”
“Jake, I personally picked up Annie’s ashes.
Because of you, she was covered in dirt. You’re
not getting her back. Just forget it.”
The car was silent, I looked at Riley and our
eyes locked.
He smiled, “Are you mad that I took your
ashes?”
I shook my head, how could I? I was thankful.

He continued, “Have you thought about where
you want to be buried? Back home, or in a
graveyard?”
I was confused.
I pointed to the water bottle.
Riley raised his brows, “You want me to spread
your ashes in the ocean?”
I nodded.
Riley smiled, his eyes red.
He nodded, “Okay, the ocean it is. That way
Jake can’t ever come visit.”
Riley and I smiled at each other.
Finally, I was free.

The day of Ashley’s trial, Riley brought me to
the courthouse.
He said that I should see what happened to bad
people so I could rest easy.
It had only been a few days, the once fancy Ashley.
Now, she was disheveled and depressed.
She trembled when they asked her questions.
I watched the whole trial.
From the confession, to the death sentence, it
all went smoothly.
When she was being taken out, Ashley
screamed.
She wanted to run to someone.
<
Constantly calling, Jake, save me, I don’t want
to die, I just love you too much.”
“Jake, Jake, save me!”
I looked and saw Jake.
He looked at Ashley with no emotion. “When my
mother was sick, why didn’t you save her?”
“When you had Annie killed, why didn’t you
think she didn’t want to die?”
“Ashley, murderers get what they deserve, how
dare you think you could live?”
Ashley collapsed and laughed crazily. “Jake,
was all of that fake? Did you make me happy
just to break me?”
Jake smiled.
Ashley cried. “Even if you get your revenge,
Annie isn’t coming back she’s dead ”

“Oh right, I forgot to tell you, she was hoping to tell you the truth before she died, but she got in a crash.”
“And what were you doing? You were sleeping with another woman.”
I suddenly felt nauseous, but nothing came up.
Riley wanted to comfort me, but his hand just went through me.
“Annie, he’s not worth it.”
He wasn’t worth it.
I suddenly felt light.
After the trial, Riley looked at me.
He was crying.

“Annie, let’s go to the ocean.”
I looked down, my feet were turning
transparent.
I smiled sadly and nodded.
The car sped quickly, Riley was clenching his
teeth.
