CADEN S POV
I paced back and forth in my office, the frustration practically radiating off of me. Another major deal had slipped through my fingers, and I couldn’t help but feel like a failure. I had been working my ass off, pouring every ounce of my energy into closing this contract, but in the end, it had all been for nothing. When was all these gonna end for Christ sakes?
With a deep sigh of irritation, I collapsed into my chair,rubbing my temples. I needed to get my head back in the game, but all I could think about was Anna. I had tried reaching out to her countless times, sending text after text, and even calling her, but she refused to respond. It was like she had just disappeared from my life. I even released all her accounts hoping to get at least a little positive reaction from her but zilch, nothing,

I knew it was because of that bastard, Nate Powers. The guy had just come in and swept Anna off her feet, whisking her away to some fancy life of luxury. And now, I couldn’t even get her to talk to me. It was driving me insane.
If I was being honest, I actually missed Anna though. There were a lot of things she did to make my house homely and Jessica never fit in. Infact, she didn’t even bother to try.
I glanced down at my phone, staring at the blank screen as if it was going to light up with a message from her any moment. But nothing came. I let out a frustrated growl and tossed the phone aside, burying my face in my hands.
Just then, the sound of the front door opening caught my attention. I glanced up to see Jessica strolling in, looking like she was exhausted and a mix of something else that I couldn’t quite place.
“Where have you been?” I asked, glancing

down at my watch. “It’s late.”
She offered me a vague smile, shrugging her shoulders. “I had to meet with a client for work. But I’m back now. Have you eaten? I can fix you something to eat, if you’d like.”
Jessica wasn’t an entirely bad cook but
she didn’t come close to Anna and it
made me miss her all the more.
Anna again? Focus Caden!
I waved her off, shaking my head. “No, that’s alright. I already ate. You should rest, take it easy. We don’t want to stress you or the baby, do we?”
I bent down, pressing a gentle kiss to her bump, trying to push the thoughts of Anna out of my mind. If only it was me and Anna in this position, instead of Jessica.
But the company needed an heir, and it was clear that Anna was barren.
Just then, my phone vibrated, the screen

lighting up with a notification. I glanced down, my brow furrowing as I saw that it was a video and a few pictures from Anna. Curious, I tapped the screen, my eyes drawing wide as the footage started to play.
I watched in stunned silence as the video showed Jessica meeting with a man who looked suspiciously like her ex–boyfriend, Fred. They were standing so close like besties and my chest tightened as I realized what this meant.
The next conversation I heard from them. both make my heart freeze. What the fuck? They were talking about Fred being the father‘ s child?
I looked up from the phone, my gaze locking with Jessica’s. She was standing at the other end of the living room now, taking off her shoes, her phone pressed to her ear. Next thing I knew, I was storming
towards her.
“Anna just sent me this video, Jessica,” I growled, thrusting the phone towards her.

“Care to explain why your ex–boyfriend is the father of your baby, and not me?”
She looked like she has seen a ghost as she quickly ended the call, her hands shaking. “What? How did you…how did Anna get that video?” she stammered, reaching for the phone.
I pulled it out of her reach, my jaw clenched. “Don’t even try to deny it. The evidence is right here, staring me in the face. You and your ex–boyfriend were having an affair, and you broke up my marriage with Anna because of it!”
Jessica’s eyes quickly started getting misty with tears, her bottom lip quivering. “Caden, it’s not what it looks like, I swear! Fred, he…he came back and he was blackmailing me. I didn’t have a choice, I had to meet with him!”
I let out a snort, shaking my head in disgust. “Bullshit, Jessica. You think I’m a fool? The video is clear as day. You were cheating on me, and you’ve been lying to

me this whole time about the paternity of this baby.”
Jessica’s tears were flowing freely now, her hands reaching out to clutch at my shirt. “Caden, please, you have to believe me! It was a mistake, I was drunk and I didn’t know what I was doing. But I love you, I swear, and this baby is yours!”
I recoiled from her touch,glaring daggers at her. “Get out. Get the hell out of my house, right now.”
She stared at me, her eyes wide with shock. “What? Where am I supposed to go? It’s late, and I have nowhere to go!”
I pointed a finger towards the door, my voice shaking with rage. “I don’t care. How about to your parents? Or go to your baby daddy’s house, for all I care. Just get the hell out of my sight, you lying, cheating
bitch.”
Her face crumpled, her sobs echoing through the house as I grabbed a bag and

started shoving her belongings into it. She pleaded with me, begging me to forgive her, but I was having none of it. I was done with her and her lies.
Once the bag was packed, I shoved it into her arms and opened the door. “Get out. I never want to see your face again.”
She stood there, frozen, tears streaming down her face. “Caden, please, don’t do this. Think of the baby, think of us!”
I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head. “There is no ‘us‘, Jessica. You made sure of that when you betrayed me. Now get out, before I call the cops.”
She reluctantly turned out the door, and I slammed it shut. My phone suddenly rang then before I could collect my thoughts.
I glanced down at the screen, surprised to see that it was Anna’s mother. Hesitantly, I answered the call.
“Caden, oh, thank goodness you answered. I have been meaning to speak to you about

My eyes went wide, my heart pounding in my chest. “What are you talking about? Anna is pregnant with my child?”
