Chapter 19
ANNA S POV
It was finally here the big day. After months of planning and preparation, I was about to launch my new company and
debut my latest product line. I was driving to the location, my heart beating fast with excitement and nerves.
The past two months had gone by quickly, as I gathered together an incredible team to help bring my vision to life. I knew I
couldn’t have done it without them.
And most especially Nate.
He literally helped me build this from the ground up and everyday when I looked at him, my affection grew with how
thoughtful and selfless he was toward me. How did I get so lucky?
One person who had not been helpful, however, was Caden. Since the moment he found out about this pregnancy, he had

been relentless in his pursuit of me. No. matter how many times I pushed him away, he just wouldn’t take the hint. If anything, his efforts had only intensified in the past few weeks. I felt trapped – I couldn’t fully cut him out of my life
because of the baby, but his constant presence was suffocating me.
As I drove, I glanced at the clock – 11:50am. Nate had promised he would be at the launch by 12pm sharp, when I was going to be cutting the ribbons to my new company. I needed to get there on time to welcome. guests and make my big announcement.
Suddenly, my car started sputtering and then came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. I tried to restart it a few times, but it was no use. I was stranded.
Looking around, I realized there was no cell signal- of course. I was on a lonely stretch of road with no one in sight. I was going to be late, and all my hard work was going to be ruined.

I climbed down and tried to take a look myself but I gave up as quickly as I started. I had no idea about what I was doing sadly.
God please, send an angel to save me.
Just then, I saw a car approaching in my rearview mirror. I held my breath, hoping it was someone who could help. As the car got closer, I recognized it immediately being one of Caden’s cars and my countenance fell.
Caden pulled up behind me and got out of his car, looking concerned. “Anna, what’s wrong?” he asked.
I rolled my eyes. “How convenient. And I suppose you just happened to be in the area?” I half snapped.
“I was on my way to your company’s opening and decided to stop by at your house to pick you up. But when I got there, I saw you driving off,” he explained. “I, um, just decided to follow along and meet you.

“Unbelievable,” I muttered. “I didn’t invite you. This is my company’s big day, and 1 don’t need you there causing a scene.”
“I know, I know,” he said quickly. “But I promise I’ll just watch from a distance. I won’t bother you, I swear.”
I stifled a groan, shaking my head in disbelief. “Well, as you can see, I’m in a bit of a predicament. My car has broken down, and I have no signal to call for a tow truck.”
“I see. Well, let me at least offer you a ride to the company. It would be a shame for you to miss your own grand opening. And it looks like it’s gonna rain soon.”
I hesitated, glancing at the clock again. It was already 12:00pm. As much as I hated to admit it, Caden had a point it would be nearly impossible to get a cab out here in time. And the sky was starting to darken, threatening rain. I couldn’t afford to be out here freezing and wet.
“Fine,” I gave in, grabbing my bag and

getting into Caden’s car. “But you drop me off a few blocks away, got it? I don’t want everyone to see us arrive together.”
“Anything for you my Anna,” he agreed, a small smile on his face. We drove in tense silence until we were just a short distance from the venue. “Okay, this is your stop. I’ll park around the corner.”
“Thank you,” I said stiffly.
As we pulled up to the building, I could see Nate standing outside, his gaze fixed on his watch. I glanced at Caden, my eyes
narrowing. “Stop here. I’ll walk the rest of the way.”
But Caden simply shook his head, his foot. pressing down on the gas pedal. “Nah, I think I’ll drop you off right at the front. No. sense in making you walk in these heels, right?”
He pulled right up in front of the building, stopping directly in front of Nate and the small crowd that had gathered.

I glared at him, knowing full well he had done this on purpose. “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?” I accused.
He had the decency to look sheepish. “I’m sorry, I got carried away. I just wanted to make sure you got here on time.”
“Ugh, you’re unbelievable,” I growled, stepping out of the car. All eyes were on me as I approached the entrance, Caden trailing behind. Nate looked pissed, and I knew he had likely misread the situation. This was not how I had wanted this day to
start.
Nate’s jaw was set in a tight line, and I knew I was in for an unpleasant
confrontation.
“Anna. I wasn’t expecting you to arrive with… him.”
I placed a hand on his arm. “Hey, it’s not what it looks like. My car broke down, and Caden just happened to be passing by. He offered me a ride, that’s all.”

“I was just trying to help Anna out. I didn’t mean to cause any trouble.” Caden chipped.
- in.
“That’s funny, Caden, because it seems like you’re always ‘just trying to help‘ when it comes to my wife.”
“Guys, please,” I pleaded, already knowing where this was headed. “Can we just put this aside for now? I have an event to host, and I need both of you to be on your best behavior.”
Nate’s gaze softened as he looked at me, and he let out a reluctant sigh. “Fine. But we’ll discuss this later. Congratulations on
the launch.”
